Anybody have one of these with a forestry style bucket set up? Wondering how they do with a load of chips and a decent sized (12 inch) chipper going down the road. My current chip truck is an older IH 1600 with the NA 7.3(no turbo) and it has trouble pulling my 250xp chipper with a load. I see alot of buckets for sale with that motor and want to know if there dogs going up hills and such. thanx!

That engine is underpowered for what you want to do. It is basically the exact same engine as the Ford Powerstroke 7.3 diesel.
If the 7.3 Powerstroke is enough engine for you, then go for it. If not, find a truck with a DT466 International.
Jeff

It is a dog, and they don't seem to handle a lot of miles like the others. You will have it to the floor all the time just to get up to speed. The dt466 is a much better engine or a Cummins.

No doubt piss poor they cant pull a sick whore off a pisspot!!!!

Im ####ed. Looks like I need to sell this ##### as soon as possible. thought I got a hella deal at auction, you guys scare me. Im not even gonna spend the $ turnin this ##### into a dump if it that bad. My current truck didnt have a turbo, so I thought the newer one would work. Poop on me. The old one served its purpose, had it since 04', Wanted a dt466, but saw the low miles and got stary eyes.

What'd you buy, and what'd you pay?

A 99' 4700 non dump 16 foot bed clean as a whistle. Came from a local contractor whos well known in the area for taking care of ****. Nothing goes without an oil change and a greasein at that co, and its a fact. The owner is rich as it gets, owns half the county, dont fool around on nothing, has his own bank and hospitals. Pops used to go on about how this dude was the only contractor that paid b4 the job was done (on stuff over 10k). Hes straigt, and cool as ****. had cigars and drinks with him at statesmen retirement parties. I wont give out what I paid on a public forum, as this truck is sitting with a 4sale sign on it, but Its cherry, 96k starts b4 you can get the key turned all the way, wanna buy it? Make me an offer. Beds over built for what it is. Could make a clam truck floor out of it. I beams on 12 inch centers. Dont know the web thickness but at that distance does it matter? Ducati, who you with? talked to many when I was out that way, wondering if you were one. What do you guys know about the DT360? Just curious

I see the dt466 every where up here, from city crews to mid sized companies. I talked to a few smaller guys that love them with a bucket and box.

You could try out pulling a load with it before you decide to sell it. It will have more power than your previous truck but probably not a great deal. The dt 360 is a baby 466. It's the same size as a 5.9 cummins which is a strong engine. It is better on fuel than the 444.

Yeah, Im no stranger to that motor, I effin love it! Missed out on one at an auction a week b4 I got this one. Went for $8100 with 110k miles on a dt466! was so pissed that I got there late and bought this one out of spite for half. ( first one was a dump, bed was paper steel, bent to ****, but a sissor is a sissor lift, I can , and pefer to biuld my own chip dump. noone can build a chip dump like a serious treeman. I should give up and design **** 4 us. Id b rich, and we'd get what we need!LOL! just dont have me pick the truck! More LOL!!!:msp_tongue:

I replaced an old truck with the 444 in it, and it was a dog. The new truck has the 466, and it's great. I can now actually use the pedal, whereas before on the 444 I just wedged it down to the floor with a 2x4. Anything less and you ceased forward motion.

I have a F450 with the 7.3 (Same engine) And yes it is slow... stock.
I put a chip in it and as long as I watch the egt's I run it on a 75 hp setting. Night and day difference. I don't know if you can get the same think for the internationals or not. Not that this means you should do that but maybe it is an option.
