What Darin is saying is that this post is where it's supposed to be to achieve a purpose he has in mind.

So, it's not misplaced.

This is just amazing me...

Darin and I have both explained that this thread is directed towards the "chainsaw " forum users only....

Tell you what....we will just go ahead and make changes without collecting any input whatsoever...that should make you happy Brian.

Doug, you don't get it do you? Are you really being that ignorant or you just trying to get under my skin? Do all of us know what soliciting is? It is the pursuit of a sale. I cannot help it if somebody comes to you and asks for equipment, this is not soliciting. We all have friends that come here that sell equipment, but don't solicit. When people are emailing other members asking them to buy something, this is. Don't send me a reciept Doug, I will send you a dictionary, it has all the definitions you need so you don't get confused next time.

It doesn't matter where the post should have gone now. I won't do anything for the forum to make it better, until I see some result of guys behaving. Dennis, I feel is intelligent enough to know what goes where, since he moves it if it does not belong in that forum. Brian and others, I am saying that all of you jump on others case, and you don't find out the whole story first. And others like Doug, just act ignorant to what the point is.

Brian, don't act innocent of ripping peoples heads off. I get emails on a daily basis. Most of them are ????? or what????, what happened???. Like everything was going fine and then there was a train wreck. I am not singling you out, you just seem to want to know where I am coming from.

Darin and Dennis,

I realize both of you are in a difficult situation. As I see the situation you and the sponcers have the final word.I do consider the sponcers to have added weight as to what is said on this forum. Why?Because what is said may,by some who frequent this site,be considered the attitude of this site and the sponcers.

I must say I truely appreciate our sponcers.Let their hammer fall.If some don't like it's weight on their head so be it.

Ouch:(

Letter to the Editor

Arboristsite is a very good place to come to for various reasons.
Not only is it a place to learn and interact, it is also a stage.
Darin is experiencing growing pains on his site and may need some help here.
Total banishment may not work, however, suspension may.
Let's take me for example, if I were baned there wouldn't be much reason for others to come here.
So yes, every member must be weighted on their personal merits alone and what they have to offer.
Darin reserves the right to handle this site in any way he wants, regardless of fairness or diplomacy.
I think it would be more fun to have a tribunal where members are either banned, suspended or reinstated.
I mean look at RJS, how many chances does a guy get? In RJS defense, he is here more because we all tolerate him than anything else.
Others like Dennis G, DB etc. etc. take months before they are actually noticed gone or missed.
Just my 2cents
John

Not being the Mediator here, but the instigator, can I just
make one request? Let us consider Brian as the Janet Jackson
of Arboristsite, and all of us back off and just write this whole
thread {fight) as a late winter ?????fest.
If we all leave this thread alone, and it fades away, the lines
that have been drawn in the sand will go with the thread.

I think the most of us can agree that this is the best forum
around for us nuts, so let us not get all worked up over some
minor personality differences.
Let us just all let this thread fade away, no delete. but just a
mutual mass ignore.

Maybe in the Spring some kids will pose a question that we all
can respond to.

Good thing Fish is not a mod, He would ban everyone with an 029 031 or 039. Just kidding Fish as I really do enjoy your posts whether here or elswhere. You truly are the most important part of the washing machine!

So Gypo if you left nobody would come? LOL You always have had a sense of humor.

I don't want to play politics here, but it seems like you can't help from sounding like you are. Its like libral vs conservative. You are not gonna float everyone's boat. RJS doesn't get on my nerves, but the constant whinning about him does. He is one of the guys I value to help this going. At the time he had some major back problems and had a lot of time to devote to the website. I will always appreciate that. I usually blow things off and offer many second chances, but I am tired. I see what Caryl is saying, but why did Dennis get crucified so easy? I mean its a post. Answer it and go on. Does he have to be on the money with verbage all the time? I surely am not and people take me wrong constantly. My intensions are not to ban anyone. I really don't want to.
These are areas we have to work on:
For instance if someone is new to the site and two weeks earlier there was a question on oil. He posts that same question, he will get called every name in the book. Reason....didn't use search function. Nobody said hey here's a link. Try using the search button. Everyone figures the other user is as computer literate as they are and rips the other person apart.

Fish, if everyone was as easy as you, everyone would be pregnant. Unfortunately, many of the people here get there little feelings hurt a little too easy. New members are a concern for me as they, might get the wrong idea and never return.

Darin, couldn't agreee more. Some of the posts here seem like friendly harassment but there are some who are really tough on newcomers. I believe being hard on the new folks is truly in bad taste of course unless they are obviously trolls. I do also dislike the fact that there are certain "social clicks" on this website. it is similar to high school all over again. Whatever. there are also plenty of good guys here willing to give honest non smart ass advice or opinions, Rich, Tony, Ed, all of the Erics, Dennis and several others too. Thanks Lucky

ps Darin I use a cable modem almost forgot!

I have Cable at home and DSL at the shop
I'd have DSL at home too but I'm too far away at home for DSL so I have cable. I don't like the fact that the cable Co. has both hands in my pockets if you know what I mean...

Well geez, there was absolutely no indication of that when I posted the 'offending' posts way back on the first page of this thread. I stayed out of it since until Darin acted like I was committing arson or something. I made an observation and a day later it's all blown up.

If you hadn't said anything to start with there would be no argument with this thread....

I don`t think the argument in this thread is truly about Brian`s post. I think it`s really about Darin`s frustration with certain members who will not take friendly advice to tone down their over the top attacks on other members and who feel that the board would be too boring a place without them, hence, they are untouchable or the entire forum will be imperiled.

Being a nice guy and giving second chances is a great thing, but what is the distinction between this behavior and passive/aggressive behavior. Very few of us have never said anything that couldn`t be taken as out of line, but now the whole forum membership is being put on notice of pending sanctions including banishment because of the extremely anti-social behavior, at times, of a few. I`m just going to continue posting the way I do knowing that I am plodding toward expulsion because I am no Harvey Milquetoast, as the forum Moderators now seem to want. Eventually Darin will have what he wants, a membership(of about 10 probably and a questionable knowledge base) that is totally benign and non-offensive in any way. That way he won`t have to take any tough actions as Administrator and banish any bullies who may confront him. Say...., isn`t that how the Tool Shed does things?

Russ
