Hi Bill,

I haven`t been personally put on notice, but when the site powers make blanket statements I feel that we are all put on notice and I know myself. Frankly, you are one of the people who I would expect to remain forever because I don`t recall you ever saying anything harsh or ambiguous. I do however consider you knowledgeable.

Yes, I do know why some are gone, or will be.

Ha! Ha!
Russ,
Ya must 'a fergot the hillbilly post.

What I get from the Administrators posts on this subject is that the amount of whining going on is unbecoming of a group of adults, and they are just sick of having to put up with it...but I could be wrong.

I did make a comment yesterday on another thread that has been deleted. It was not a personal attack on anyone but must have offended someone.

I just hope we don't go from what some may consider one extreme to another, like walking on egg shells to avoid offending anyone. No doubt some poeple complain more then others.

Not only shall justice be done, it must be seen to be done!

I would like to see a posting by the moderator when someone had been banned or put on notice and a bit of an explanation. I realize there is no obligation to do so, but feel it would give a bit of reassurance that that this action is not the result of something personal etc. I like to know WHY even if technically it is none of my business. What you guys think?

I am not trying to make this another Tool Shed, I am just trying to not make it a p i s sing match. I enjoy the openness of many, but when you make comment after comment of what a loser someone is, it gets old. This in not about everyone. I don't need to tell you who its about. Yes, Rocky, you are over the top sometimes, this has to end. You can tell someone off with out actually going over the top can't you? Cahoon, can blab till he turns blue about how great he is, but when he cuts somebody's legs off it better have ???? good backup. It would get extremely boring to here sterile comments, but many of you need to get some back bones and let things slide. Many like me or Dennis, or somebody else may say a joke or too, but that is all it is, a joke. It's not a blow, its not a jab, its all supposed to be fun. So people that are going over the top with their jabs need to tone it down just as much as the sissys getting their feelings hurt so easy. I mean we are men here, I thought. So decrease the the hormones or increase them what ever fits this request and lets get this back to the way it should be.

If we put the guys on notice via an open thread then we will be argueing whether or not they should stay or go. When you tell someone to P i s s off in an open forum, you should know you are probably gone. I will make the final decision on banishment, not the moderators. Again, many may like Dennis, many may not, but he is doing the best he can. Everyone can say they can do it better, but until you get into the political realm of this site you don't know what you are talking about. You can be a libral and try to please everyone, but their is no way this can happen. You can be a wingnut and say some really off the wall things, but don't attack people. This is simple and all we are asking. I am not playing favorites and will not. Thanks,

For what its worth, I love this site. I was turned on to it about 6 months ago or so, and it has quickly became my favorite website. Everything you could ever want to know about chainsaws, tree felling, firewood cutting, its all here. But alot of the time, while reading posts, I find myself sifting through arguments. I have not figured it out yet, but in comparison to all of the other web forums I frequent (Forestry, and many others), the chainsaw group in specific seems to be the "rowdy" bunch. Especially when it comes to chainsaw racing/modifying/who files the best chain, etc etc. Unfortunately much of the time it escalates to the point of becoming personal, and members end up pi$$ed off. I don't get it. But to get to the point, I for one hope that the site continues to remain as successful as it has been, and continues to grow. I will to my best to chip in whenever possible.
Peace
-Brad :)

Typhoon,
Thanks for the reply. I agree about the "rowdy bunch" thing, but that part can be good and bad. The reason we were going through this in the first place is to do subforums of the chainsaw forum as there are soooo many posts. For example:
Chains and Sharpening
Hotsaws!!!!
Fuel and oils
Carvers
etc
etc
etc

This way you could go direct to what you are interested in. There are a ton of different things you can talk about and the page can almost completely change in one day. This way topics may also stay up more and stay more popular also. We were asking about the IP thing to see (since you would click on one more page) if it would slow the guys on 56k down going page to page. Since most would be on 56k, I don't know if it will be a good idea.
Thanks again for your imput.

I don't know that this will help any, but I am a member of a compact tractor forum as well, and the consensus there is, the less sub-categories the better. The majority (85% or so) of the members there are on dialup, and many of the dialup guys (at least 50%) have connection speeds of like 25k (living out in the country usually), so they don't like hitting many categories. Personally I have a 1mb dsl connection, so its not an issue. But even at that, I like simplicity personally, and not to have so many sub-categories. Just my opinion. :)
