Hey , heres a scenario what if your mom had a million dollar nail business and you didn't want anything to do with it but your future wife wanted you to jump into it would that motivate you anymore , just cause you like the idea girls don't always dig it..

Yes she is crazy, and spoiled. I can see where she might not want to take over the trucking business but if she wants to get into the restaruant business she is ferkin crazy. That business never ends. You need to be there in the morning to receive deliveries and pay the bills, and then you need to be there in the afternoon while the cooks prep, and then you need to be there when the customers arrive all night. My BIL is a chef and he puts in 14-18 hour days. No way would I want to get into that business. A friend of mine once owned 5 restaruants that were hugely successful (Chinese restaruants). He sold them all and now works at Home Depot. The put the money away to grow until he retires and he uses HD to get insurance in the meantime.

You work with Future FIL to take over the business, and let Mrs. Princess go off and get her nails done along with her foo-foo poodle. Sounds like she is not understanding of what work life is like and she needs to figure that out. No amount of pushing on your part is going to change that. It is a long slow walk up Fool's Hill, and some people take longer than others to get there.

I hate to be so brutal, but she needs a few lessions from the School of Hard Knocks to understand what she is giving up.

BlackenedTimber, it sounds like if you are able to talk her into it then eventually you're going to end up having to run this company. If she's not interested now she may be even less interested after she does it for a while. This may not be a bad thing if you ended up running it but looking at that equipment list of yours I'm thinking you prob really like what you're doing now. Just a thought.

I love what I am doing now. LOVE IT. And I love my toys, too.

My old man still has about a dozen line construction trucks (telsta buckets, digger trucks) a couple of Intl Tractors and dump trailers, two JD dozers(850 w/ 11-ft Teco Fiber-Optics Plow and Blade + 450 w/ winch), 2 backhoes, a trencher, a ditchwitch... soooo much equipment. It's just sitting up at the farm. He is constantly on me, asking me to get into the line construction biz. Sooner or later, I am sure I am going to end up with his equipment.

My GF Gina is very open to me helping her run the trucking company. I am sure sooner or later I will end up with that equipment (or atleast the headaches from that equipment) as well. Who knows, I may just go national and start working my Energy Construction contacts...

But that's all down the road. For now, I am happy to fall asleep each night with saw chips in my beard.

Telstas are a hell of a truck. They are awesome for stringing cable.

But... for tree work, the thing I dont like about 'em is that a Telsta T40C is only going to give you about 42 feet in working height. For alot of trees, thats enough, but for alot of trees, it's definately not.

My dad has a B-I-G tandem-axle Intl with a Pittman digger body on it. The max boom height is 56 feet, I think. It's used for setting power poles, which I think it can set 65-70 foot poles no problem - Big Class 5 poles.

The thing has a pin on bucket, with a 5k winch and jib up on the tip of the boom, so I'm thinking I may try and talk him out of that truck if/when things get busy again.
