Found a Johnsred 2050 today in a shop that looks un-abused for $159. What is the displacement of this saw and is this a pro saw or homeowner junk? I have only have Stihls now. The guy acted like cash could bring the price down several bucks. What is the opinion of the forum on this model saw?
Thanks for the help

I've have a 2050 since 1998. It was a surprise gift and would probably not have been my first choice, but it has cut considerable firewood each winter since.

It's about 50cc and IMO it's a decent homeowner saw -- not pro. You get at the cylinder from the bottom. Plastic surround. Cost about $300 new. It's well-balanced and cuts good enough. It kicked back on starting once too many times, however, and shattered the plastic recoil housing into a thousand pieces. Also the ignition coil went out for no reason. Both happened in the first year or two. And the air cleaner "pop on" feature should be called an automatic "pop off". But I have that tied down now. Other than that it's been an OK saw since that time.

As this 2050 replaced an old SOLID Jonsered 451 that I got well-abused for $45 and that lasted 10 years without a lick of trouble (and which I finally wore out the seals cutting a long ditch thru a bog) the 2050 still has a LONG way to go to prove itself.

I had a 2050 and liked it.

If the recoil shattered I have to wonder if the decompression was used...if not, that's pilot error not engineering.

Do you mean a decompression valve like on my Solo 690 or my Yamaha XT500?

My Jonsered 2050 doesn't have one.
