Good idea thank you. If this works it would save $40!The screw looks bent, on your original. The gear piece looks cocked. Try bending it a tad. Just grip the side of the top plate.

This is my own 2152.
Great pictures thank you! Your tensioner seems a lot tighter than any of the aftermarket ones I have bought.
Completely off-topic, but I have yet to be able to find a s/n on my saw. You mentioned you had a 2152, any idea where it is located????
I found it!! Thank you so much. I’ve searched everywhere and never found it.You should find the model plate and serial number on a tag under the PTO side of the wrap handle bar mount.
Thanks for the advice. I’m going to try this before buying a new tensioner. If you look at the construction of the part, you'll see that the top plate bottom jaw on channel locks just rests on the tube. Make sure you don't squeeze tube when trying to tighten.
What did you end up doing? Thanks for the advice. I’m going to try this before buying a new tensioner.
I haven’t had a chance to fix anything yet due to the holiday weekend. I’m hoping to get it fixed up tomorrow and see if there is any change. Appreciate the checking in.What did you end up doing?
