Hey Lad. How's Bob?

Thanks Adam!!!!

Hey Unc!! Bob was good.....though he and I have done saw business and talked for a few years, we had not had a face to face so I tricked him a little and lead him on trying to buy stuff he didn't have in stock.....finally he says "I can order that stuff..... but....you know most guys just don't come in here trying to buy that kind of thing"........I says...."Really???.......Cantdog would" LOL He looked up quickly a little confused and said "You know him???" I says "Yeah I do"........then he got it!!!! We both LOAO!!!!!!! Good guy that Bob.....

I should add that the scabbard in the fuzzy pic came on my 3' roller bar...LOL!!

No not a price tag....compression number.....that tag's way to small for the price to be written on......have to be 3-4 times bigger just to get the zeros all on there

LOL!! How about a vid of one of those bad boys actually cutting something?

Kevin

I would but I'm not clever enough to take or post vids......but I will take some more pics of the whole setup once I get home......looks to be crappy weather Thurs....probably then...

Ok......got a few pics.....but first here's the back story....of course I've been watching and wanting a 111S for a long time....but they always go for long dollars on ebay and there just aren't many at all around here. I buy a lot of parts saws off ebay but have a hard time coughing up big bucks for something like a 35-40 yr old 111S having only pics to pass my judgement on. So a year or so ago my friend Ron from NH (roncoinc) had a friend of his bring him one to get going....been sitting for quite a spell in a barn. The guy expressed some interest in selling it but wanted more than I could spend at the time....after a while Ron got around to cleaning it up and got it running....said the P&C were excellent as was the rest of the saw...that kindled my interest again as I was a bit more liquid.....but after it was operational the guy changed his mind and decided to keep it.....sigh....last Feb the guy came to Ron and wanted to sell it quickly as his tractor motor had failed and it needed a rebuild.....being a very good friend of the guy, Ron paid him his asking price.....and it also included a helper handle and a nice factory cast alum sawmill rig.......Ron got some pics to me and it became apparent quickly that this saw has not done any duty other than on the mill and a very limited amount of that. It has no dogs and you'll notice the front of the saw where the dogs would mount still has all it's paint on the edge of the mounting flange...meaning it has not been pulled against any logs as it would not have any paint if used in the yard or woods. This is about as new as you could ever hope to find a 35-40 year old professional/commercial chainsaw....all the fasteners look just like new....the paint that is missing is not from use but from kicking around in a barn a for years.....this is the second time in my life that I have found and purchased the impossible.....the first was in 1978 when I bought my second Harley......a 1959 FLH in totally stock original condition with 19,000 miles.....only one of 151 FLH models produced in 1959.....I still have it....and I've used it all these years..as I will probably own and use this 111S as I want and need for many years.
So Ron wanted just what he paid for it and said thee was no rush...he would hold it for me until the funds could be aquired......so I saved and reached the goal and was going to pick it up in NH on my way to tbone75 GTG last weekend.....but Ron was leaving a few days earlier than me to go to the same place so took the saw with him......I picked up the saw in Ohio and just got back to Maine last night!! I have to thank Ron for all he did to put this saw in my hands....he wanted it to go to a good home....Thanks RON!!!!!!!

Look closely and you'll the wear points on this saw show very little use and it runs super....I haven't checked the compression yet....Ron said his gauge read 180 lbs...it's all of that I think...111s and trip 002.JPG111s and trip 005.JPG 111s and trip 007.JPG 111s and trip 009.JPG 111s and trip 011.JPG

Hell that's almost a virgin....should last another 30yrs in your capable hands. I gotta laugh at the part where Ron fixes up the saw for his friend and the friend decides to keep it. It's times like those that make me wonder if being honest all the time is always the best path.:p

I love these kinda stories....wonderful saw, hope it really rips for ya!
BTW, you always take the best pics...

Your unicorn!

That it is Adam...

THe box it's sitting on is my saw crate I built to take a few saws to Ohio.....I left room for the 111S...LOL!! Few more pics....the thing with the three rollers sitting on top of the peavey is part of the mill rig dismantled to fit in the box for transport.111s and trip 001.JPG111s and trip 013.JPG 111s and trip 014.JPG 111s and trip 015.JPG 111s and trip 003.JPG

Thanks Kevin.....It is about the nicest one I've seen.....they were very expensive in the day and generally bought only by tree services or big wood loggers and worn completely out or crunched by a skidder or tree!

Unless it's been stored new-in-a-box somewhere, you'll never see a nicer one again. That new-in-a-box Husky 2101 brought almost $3K last yr on the bay...if it was legit.

I'd still love to know where the majority of these big saws sold-geographically. Thesawguy sold a few on youtube that came from the PNW....

If it may fit, I have some custom pattern dawgs if you ever take it to the woods....for the 80/90.

Kevin

Thanks Kevin but they won't fit if they fit the 80/90.....the 111S is all by itself in that respect.....Unc has new dogs on his....he said he would send me the pattern...

Evening Gents, there was some nice Jonsered saws at the Ia./Mo. GTG last weekend. I seen my first 1020 there, ModifiedMark had it, he said a AS member from down under sent it to him.

Stihl think Robin could have left that saw here ! LOL But I would need someone to start it and pick it up ! LOL

I am just real tickled I got to touch it and Uncle Rob's at the same time ! Wonder how many can say they had 2 of them unicorns in there basement at the same time ! LOL And didn't even get to run either one of them ! In my case see them run . LOL
Sure was a fantastic GTG ! And sure not the usual GTG ! Just one that needed to happen ! Next one will be a little different , more saws running ! I think ? LOL
