I haven't seen Kroil in my travels. PB blaster we have. I have found in the past the ammonia will loosen rusty bolts but I wouldn't put it in a cylinder. Some guys use ATF.

I think if I had stuck rings, the cylinder would coming off.

My helpers in the past referred to PB Blaster as the 'as seen on TV' stuff in my truck....although I'm not sure it says that on the can anymore. There is something else to add to ammonia that makes a great rust penetrant, but I don't remember what that was now. Kroil is pretty great stuff and so is their price....I covet it more than I use it.

I agree...would be worried about the rust and the imprint on the cylinder wall. Would rather pull it & polish everything, given how easy that is on two-cycles.

The machinist guys on here swear buy a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF as the very best penetrant to free up rusted stuff..... Unc, (Stihl 041S) posted test results comparing all the favorites like PB Blaster, Kroil, Marvel Mystery etc. etc to the acetone mix.....it won hands down... I've used it and it does work very well...and cheap to make. Just a thought.....

I had thought there was something you added to the ATF. Thanks for putting that up.

Yeah, read that awhile back...that same concoction.

I've got a formula for the USC that is dynamite for cleaning hard things like injectors. Have to use a glass jar inside the water bath of the USC...same level in the jar that is in the bath, cover the jar. I've been looking again for the formula, but it's lacquer thinner, acetone and something else in the right proportions. I have a jar of it, but can't find the original formula...lol! You keep the jar covered and it minimizes the flash potential of the chemicals in the heated USC, so I'm told. I've never had any trouble.

Hey guys just curious never did much with the 70e,80,90 series but talking to guy a guy and going to pick up a saw from him and he's not sure on the model but says it has the decomp did the 70e's have decomp I tried asking if it had a plastic flywheel or not but the guy wasn't anywhere near the saw just wondering what models in that time frame had the decomp to at least narrow down on what I'm picking up

Alright that's the only thing the guy could tell me was it had a decomp he doesn't know much about saws add just said red chainsaw with set motor 20$ he sent me a pic and couldn't believe it wasn't a crappy old home lite
