Brian, I've held great hopes for 3D printing since I first heard about it yrs ago. Problem has been the layering issue... Does not make for strong parts, especially in plastics/composites. There are multi-million $ machines that get around this for the military and areospace industry. When that will trickle down to us and small engine parts...who can say?

Actually for metal the story is way better. The company I work for is one of those on the forefront and we have made many parts this way with tensile samples in the same run. Since the metal ones essentially weld powder as they go the results are more perfect part than many other traditional processes. No voids, inclusions etc. Essentially in 10 years or so for many machined parts a 3D printed part will be cheaper and faster to produce and stronger.

Lol....in ten yrs, for me, it won't make any difference.

I was gonna say that in the last post;that we're about ten yrs from consumer trickle down....especially in plastics/composites and cost. I know some cars guys that paid $50 for some small composite gears and they lasted a few days.

Anyone know what the "other" fuel line" is for or what the end that is near the clutch is supposed to connect to? It goes from the top of the fuel tank, under the carb and through a hole pointed forward, just above the clutch. On this saw it is loose in the hole of the carb box wall and not connected to anything but I cannot see if there is anything to connect to. Is it just a tank vent?

Yup, should be the tank vent. There should be a sintered bronze plug in the end of it if it's old enough. What model?

Sorry, I moved the question from another thread and forgot to include the model number here, its a 52. SN 697084 if it matters, thanks. I think there is something in the end of the hose, but it looks to me like there needs to be some more disassembly to see what it is. I thought it might be a broken off nipple but a bronze filter makes sense for a vent.

Got the 17344 Oregon drums. They look to be an exact match to the oem. In waiting on the clutch spring to be delivered, then I'll swap it all out. Thanks again for helping me with this.
Glad it worked out for ya, should be an exact match.

The sintered filters where stuck inside the end of the vent tubing and then the end shoved inside the cast hole in the saw. I have later models where the cast hole disappears altogether.

It was Robin's idea that it's not about filtering the gas fumes as they come out....but about any reverse pressure(backwards draw), as the saw cooled down.

I found some bronze sintered filters on eBay that have the hose fitting built into one end. Doubtful they are small enough to fit in the cast hole, but I haven't bought any yet.

Most of these OE filters were tossed when the vent tubing was replaced. My old 80 never had one since I bought it 35+ yrs ago. Don't think it's that critical, obviously.

Hell yeah!! A couple of roller nose bars too(probably General)....one Oregon and one Windsor tip....the Oregon tip being the half-moon unobtainable in .404 job. Must be a GTG in the PNW somewhere?

I'm assuming the 111/111S didn't have a factory provision for a dawg in the clutch cover?

Kevin

The only ones I've seen mount on the bar studs.....

Interesting assortment of full-wraps....no two alike exactly. Wondering if the wraps were designed to go all the way back to the clutch-side body with that special AV mount. Hard to tell from the pic. On the 80/90 as I pictured in here recently, the saw body has a slight V-groove for the AV mount. The 111S looks like it's dead flat there. I'm trying to remember if I've seen a full-wrap on a 111S that goes all the way back to the saw body? Maybe a J'red promo pic would help.

The one with the Oregon bar looks like it has a joiner link on the top...or maybe I'm seeing things.
