That's actually a good price for a power head, for a pro saw of that cc at that time. That's about what I was paying for a Husky 2100 set-up for logging towards the end of my career. Wished I had put a 2100/2101 away, new-in-the-box.....would fetch over 3 grand today.

Interesting that in CO, the J'red dealer I was working with never mentioned the saw even in a used state. He knew I was looking for large cc saws new or used. As long as he went through them, I was assured a perfectly good working saw. He was pushing the new 910 at that place in time.

Fired up the 80 today after a complete rebuild. Probably going to need to replace the clutch spring, but other than that everything seems good. Compression was 220lbs after it cooled for awhile. I believe the p/c on this saw was a "recent" replacement as it cleaned up with one round of purple power and came out spotless. No staining on the fins.
Btw this saw had the carb gasket from the rebuild kit installed that Robin always warns about. Not big enough to cover the impulse passage. I'm not sure how well it ran like that as I tore it down and rebuilt it before starting it.
I've been wanting a 80 in the stable for years now. Looking for a 111 or 1020 now. Lol.

Yeah, on the older impulse trail manifolds, you can throw that kit gasket away. Some yrs ago I installed one on the 80 and it ran really screwy....found the Husky gasket # and ordered about 8 of them(green).

Shawn, it looks like from your pic you have the flat bottom AF cover....which means you have the screen mesh. You'll get a lot more reliable filtration with the round AF cover and the flocked, round nylon mesh filter. Just a suggestion.....

I keep meaning to stock up on some of those intake gaskets. For now I just make them.
If I ever come across the round cover and filter reasonably priced, I will probably change it over. I consider the round cover to be the true 80 setup.

What's the deal with wrap handles on the 80? Was there a full and 3/4 wrap available? The one I'm thinking of doesnt return to the saw, it has a bell similar to the end of a baseball bat on the end.

Btw speaking of 820's, what happened to the nice full wrapped project on the bay? Did one of you make a nice offer? I told myself I have enough of that series but it would have been very nice all fixed up.

There were indeed full-wrap handles put on the 80/90...although it was mostly a PNW thing. They were contracted out once they hit the States, so there were differences. In true form, they went all the way back to the saw at the clutch cover and required an AV mount there. Those mounts ceased to be available in the late 80's....the bane of my existence. Most users cut the downtube off before it angled back to the saw. The pic Tim shows is one that has an end stuck on of some kind...seen that before. I have both steel and aluminum full-wraps. I only have one full-wrap that hadn't been butchered and now it's cracked because of some fool helper that threw a bunch of posts on top of the saw.

Partner inspired design actually on the 8XX and 9XX saws....except the 910 which was Jonsereds design with perhaps a bit of Husky influence as things were coming together around then....

I think in the order of things...there wasn't any outside influence on the 910, but immediately Partner on the 920 and then Partner/Husky on the 930. I say this because Electrolux Group AB left most of the J'red line alone for a few yrs after the acquisition. That and the goofy/weak AV design on the 910 is unlike anything else except wonky J'red engineering.

So, you don't think the wrap Tim posted is "factory"? I have seen quite a few like that over the years of searching for an 80. Just never in person to try and determine if they all started life as full wraps.

Look at this link from 2009. It's an 81? (never heard of that model before) with a full wrap which I assume wold take the same handlebar as the 80 but not sure. It looks like my 801 with the same AF setup as the 90.

Scroll down a piece. It looks like that one is aluminum while others are definitely steel.

Maybe Kevin will post a pic f the full wrap on his 80.

I don't on the 80/90. There was always the factory intention of using the now unobtainium AV mount at the end of the bar. But I really believe all the full-wraps were contracted out over here and put on the saws in the states....whether it was Tilton in Portland or another dealer. AFAIK, they all started out life as full-wraps with the intention of using the clutch side AV mount. When the mounts became scarce or impossible to find, they were cut as a matter of course. Now that's the million dollar question;why did J'red make this AV mount so scarce and often unavailable?

I'd be happy to take a pic of the set-up if anyone is interested. And I do have a new AV mount somewhere in my parts. I think the 910 has the same AV mount at the end, but I've yet to put mine back together from parts with the full-wrap.

Tim, I know next to nothing about the 81(would appear to be a 801 in all respects), but if you look carefully, that's the bottom handle AV mount I'm talking about. The tubing was squeezed to a flat and had two female inserts welded on to receive the AV mount and then one screw against the saw body from the mount.
