Do you have a picture of the ignition unit inside the starter cover of that saw - or could you refer what it says on it?

Your posts triggered a renewed interest in determining if my 52 is a straight 52 or a 52E - but I don't have it here (it is at my cabin), so I can't look under the flywheel anytime soon?

The unit inside the starter cover of mine doesn't say Pagani or SEM on it - what it says is "W35", and then "PART NO 100 195 XX" (couldn't see the last two digits). Regardless, that part number doesn't match anything in the 52/52E IPL - but the shape indicates it is a regular 52, when compared to the drawings in said IPL.

He has a huge pic of his points ignition in place on the saw in post#6545. Robin said the same thing up above in post#6552

I know that, but as I don't have my saw here, I can't look at what's behind the flywheel. However, I know what's inside the starter cover (how it looks, and the text/numbers on it that is).

Your saw belongs in a serial number range that fits with the 52E and 521E, according to the series number list on the collectors forum linked up at Acres site. Which model is it actually, 52 or 52E?

Niko, I think I can clear up the confusion. The case I'm moving parts into could possibly have been a 52E or 521E. It wasn't clear when I bought it.
What I started with, was an un-split bare case. On post #6544 which I labeled "before" you can see the case number is 643792 and different than the case # in post #6545.

I'm sure if you look at #643792 which is the case number of the dirty saw in pic 6544 I think you'll find it started life as a plain 52 because this case looked unmolested when I recently purchased it.

If you'd like a pic of the ignition inside the recoil cover I can certainly get that to you.

Dean...Definitely not a 521......totally different flywheel side case half and recoil....yours is/was either a 52 or 52E.

Niko...the spark coil on a points model 52 is the same coil as the 621/80......same size and shape. The coil on a 52E is considerably smaller in size and is the same as the early 70E. This can't be found in the IPLs as they all carry different part numbers due to differing wire lengths. The IPL you posted shows this if you look closely at the coils themselves. The E coil is very cylindrical and about the size of a walnut.....52 coil is larger and also cylindrical but the laminations extend outward all the way around creating a flat, square edge cutting the roundness in half. Again this is the same coil used in the 621....I can get the actual numbers off both these coil if you need them as I have several running versions of each.

Niko here is a very clear ipl for the 52.52e

54ZN10 fits with 920/920S - I don't know what it was on the 930 though, as my source doesn't list that model.

Edit; the original source of that list (the Collectors forum) has been updated, and lists a different number for the 930. As far as I know, the transfers start at the bottom (directly from the case) of the 930 cylinders, while they start in the cylinder wall on the 920 ones?[/URL]

The rebuild is coming along nicely. In my cash of parts I found a 16" Tilton Super Bar which is actually a Tsumura, However, I'm needing a couple of things that weren't on the original saw.
So, I hit the Ebay and found this 52 last night. Seller wanted $50 with shipping included. I'll use the black air cover, on/off switch and probably the recoil handle but there's alot of other good parts on there for 50 bucks.

Transfers do not extend.

Lots of neatly labeled manila envelopes and paper bags. Going to have to find time to go through it all.

Cory,
Always on the hunt for 910, 621, 80/90 parts. Like they say on the pig site, "Dibs!!!"........lol

Looks like the stuff came from an old dealer, by the way things are packaged?

Two more 111s parts arrived today!! I finally found the ignition mount bracket or arch that the coil mounts to. This part was initially in the picture when I bought the saw but the seller lost it before he shipped it out. Also picked up the manifold shield. If I could just find the connecting rod bearing and spacer washers.

Have somebody who has one, mic that bearing and then go to a bearing house and tell them what the application is for. You'll wait forever for that item to tun up on eBay. Do you have the wrist pin?

I don't know what to tell ya on the washers...probably don't cross with any other J'reds.
