Jonsered - Husky 346XP Equivalent?

I just did a quick look thru the US Jonsered catalogue and compared it to the Husky web site. It looks like they are pushing Husky as the "pro" brand in the US. I say this because the Jonsered models all appear to correspond to the consumer husky models with the following exception:

CS 2186 = 385XP
CS 2156 C = 357XP

Josered also tops out at the 2189. There is no equivalent to the 395 or 3120.

I'm not real surprised since Husky has much more brand presence and recogntion here (not a comment on comparative quality, just on market presence and brand). I imagine in other markets the Jonsered brand will be pushed as the pro brand and offer the pro models.

You left out the CS 2171/372xp.

Not a big deal, but also be aware that there are more variations than just color and shape of the plastic, the most notable one being the shape (angle) of the front handlebar. The Huskys has the most ergonomic ones, except if the saws have full wraps.
There is also slight variations in exact weight and rated max power output on some models.
The Jred models tend to be available in more different versions than the Husky ones.

Also be aware that the 353/2152, 359/2159 and 365/2165 are pro quality saws, even though they are not listed as such at all markets.

As you said, different markets - different strategies.
It is about the same thing with Stihl.

True, but Jonsered have used that type of arrangement for years as cutting or fallers gunning sights.

Yes, that is their (rather lame, imho) excuse for it.
The stripes and marks on other saws is good enough - at least for me.

I have a new 2147 Jonsered setting in my shop and it has the plastic crankcase housing. It's a cheap homeowner saw.

Was the 2147 purchased in US?
I have looked on the Jonsered International web site and found that the 2147 is available in Spain.
I am going to call my friends in Spain and see what the cost of it is.

I have never seen a 2147 but 1 of the dealers I deal with is a Jon. dealer and has a 2147 sitting on his floor but it is not a 346

I recently received the latest 2005 catalog from Jonsered for Canadian products.

It does have the CS2147 in it available with or without heated handles, with or without heated carberator, with or without catalytic exhaust also.

The specs are identical to the 346XP except it has better anti-vibe on both front and rear handles and it sure is a whole bunch prettier also. Darn right beautiful in red and black compared to that all ugly orange husky uses.

I saw the same thing Lobo, but could not find if the 2147 had the quad transfer ports as the 346xp.
I called the Jonsered office in Quebec, but my contact has not returned my call.
They got both the same part number for cylinder.

I was wrong the 2.7 Jonsered saw I have here a 2145. It has the plastic crankcase housing on it. I called Jonsered today and they don't sell the 2147 in the US. The Jonsered guy said it was the same as the 346.

maybe the dealer in the states is wrong also, I will check and make sure like I said I have never seen one , I called Gibb tonight and he said there is no price in the book for them here in Canada but he figured he could get 1 or 2

2145 Jred

I know of two here using the Husky 345, and I wanted something similer. I ended up with a 2145. Comparing it to one of the 345's:

Same yet different. handle is more straight across. Covers are different in shape and color. My jred has 18" bar, the 345 has 16".

But the neetest thing is that red and black color vs the husky orange.
marketing has decided that husky sells better in usa, but the Jred is a way better looking saw. I use it often, and it works well. I rather doubt that my plastic crankcase is going to be a issue but time will tell!! :)

here the 345 sells alot , the first bunch of 345's we got here had plastic retainers on the crank bearings and they would let go once the saw got hot and now all your ball bearings would be on one side of the bearing , not good

Good of you to admit your mistake!

2147

Jred UK has a newly disigned web-site that is a lot better than the old one.
Look up the 2147 here;
http://www.jonsered.co.uk/

It shares the OManual with the 2152, and I don't think that would have been the case if they didn't share the bottom end.

As with most other smaller saws, it weights a bit more than its Husky counterpart.

It makes more sense to be running a 16 inch bar on a 345 / 2145 than an 18 inch. on a little 3.0hp saw.

Husky marketing are stretching it to the max.
