it seem theres friction between the fellas that want to discuss ******** and those,, that just want optimised work saws, along with discussions of various stock saws and their merits etc...
is it time mabe to separate these two groups into different forums,,so they wont be treading on each other...
the race saw fellas definitly know their stuff,,but it usually dont apply to regular work outin the woods...the pro woodsmen definitely know their stuff but it dont usually have much to do with pipes, race chains etc.
i dont mean ban one group from the other as u can belong to both. one site dedicated to racing ,,the other where the beginner can learn from the mechanics and pros in the tree buisiness.just a thot ,,not sayin it oughta happen ,,that be up to darin..

I've wondered how nice it must have been back in the day when woodsmen showed up on the weekend to race each other with their working saws and then get drunk and brawl.  It's kind of neat to see a motorcycle engine blast through some balsa, but it'd be even neater to see that saw get used for a day's work, which really should be major qualification for the "important" racing on the weekends.

It might be entertaining to watch the goings-on in a race-saw forum, but this one might lose a bit of good flavor and in the end I imagine the other forum would fizzle out.

Tony, are you trying to take over the "Chainsaw mediator" title?  I didn't know it was up for grabs.

no glen i cant even take credit for the idea.
somebody named shania emailed me,, with the idea last nite..
yep i agree the race forum mite fizzle out.. but who knows it could be the birth of the next nascar..

sugesstion

Take the "Unlimited" off the the other forum and see if it works first. Then you'd have a hotsaw forum but it would load up with newbies who think once their saws warm up that's the go to forum. IF it works we could change the chainsaw carvers forum to 3ci.-6ci. chainsaws hot or not but we'd lose the guys that can't convert cc's to ci's.
Anyone with llamas or alpakas could be members on all the forums if their saws are piped or not :D :D

All for One and One for One

Words of wisdom Title

There is room for all on this form. Bar none.Sure some lose their temper--speak before thing. some times they are out of line on their expression and have to be remined the form rules. Any time there is a form as active with member as this ONE different will happen at times between some members

If I were a beting man I would put my money on all the members on this FORUM in a contest in any field when it comes to saws

Familey members will brush each other wrong some time. In a way members on this Forum are like familey.Lets work togeather an keep it that Way.

I am not disagreeing with former post of any member. Each one had a good points in their expressions. This is good for the Forum. With different opinion comes ways of improvment -that is what make the world go around

Merry Christmas to ALL

GOD Loves You

Doug.

I remember the days out west when the competition in saw races was in fact real loggers with their work saws. I have nothing bad to say about hot saws, but I would love to see a good saw contest the way it used to be. It would be even better if you had to use a stock vintage saw.

we have a class out hereat some shows where your saw has to be 1960 and older
no porting it has to be stock the way it was made
if they think you are cheating you get taking apart right there
no gearing and you have to run .404 chain but just like everything else if you donot have the right saw you cannot place
and the saw is the stihl super lighting 137cc one
they are the hardest to find saw up here not the 106cc one there is tons of them here but they run well also
i have 2 137 cc saws plus some spare jugs and parts
one saw which is the one i use had never had gas in it before
it came right from stihl it cost me $500 usa dollars

I don't think that discussion of hotsaws is the problem. In fact it adds a lot to this forum. The thing I think doesn't belong in the chainsaw board is the bickering b!tching and bragging. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, but it really disrupts a lot of threads. When discussion has come up before about making separate boards for one thing or another, the general response has been that it would be stretching things too thin, and I agree.

Maybe there should be a board here for these arguments, so people can say what they feel they have to say in public without turning the chainsaw board ( or others ) into a chatroom brawl.

mountainman i see them once in a whil. ..
work saw against work saw.. i took some saws up to a lot and took some wood so as i could show the buyers the saws cut well. before the day was over there was half dozen men with their good saws there cuttin up.. a fella with an 041 had a really fast one.. it was equeal to my 036.. i didnt have my 372 ,,as i didnt want anybody to try and buy it.it was a lotto fun..
