spars are mostly left for Big John these days but every now and then they through the old dog a bone, and I use aropeguide by ART befor that i would use a second line with a biner in the eye and a friction hitchon the other side with a micro pulley and my system through the biner and pulley as in a friction saver.I always liked this method easy on big wood and comes right out for the next cut. sorry they wont let me put my picture under my name yet

Geez you guys are up late. I just got in from the west TCC. Looks like I been missing out a lot on here.

Lil'cropping might be in order.

i think that brings to mind this thread as things evolve Larger Avatars Please

Oh you guys are so helpful...I wuz trying to be fancy, none of this square pic stuff, so i sized 81x67, figured that's less than 75x75....but the Avytar police got me....

Yep Rocky, i've got a slew of photo editing programs ...all way better than Paint...I use the top rated ACDSee, but it is not free....in lieu of several versions of Photoshop, as it does about all I need for simple editing. It is also the best and fastest organizer program out there. Also, www.irfanview.com is free and very user friendly.

When I got my first computer, I did little with it for quite a while but play games and fiddle with Paint, until I finally got online.

So you've been "releafed" and/or bumped up to the front office?

Geesh, what am I doing wrong? I've 2 good climbers and a learning one, yet the big and tuff stuff still gets left to the old man....and I think I've got scads o' years on ya!!

You oughta come out here to visit, we'll be sure to find ya some biggies to climb!!

That said, I'd really like to come work east some fall or spring, when it's not too muggy or hot, as you guys have so many more cool and challenging decurrent trees to work in.

Here's on for ya Jim,
I resized it for posting here... I'll send you a couple of full sized shots if you like... just email me with your address.

Not sure if this is a better family shot or promo pic for Sherrill...

What did you think of the TCC video?

the video was great not sure what you were looking at with regards to my footlock, wich was ugly, but thanks anyhow.I would like to see th masters if you have it it would be a good tool in helping my self and John get a better look

Here are the pros and cons that I see of each. The Fixe just pops right on the rope. There is no "opening" necessary like you have with the CMI. Though I never have dropped a slack tending pulley while "opening" it (I just jinxed myself), I think a person would be more likely to drop the swinging cheeked pullies because you need to move it in one hand while installing it.

I'd rather keep the CMI pullies in my bag in case I ever need them to hold my body weight. They are strong enough to meet ANSI recommendations, the Fixe, at 22kn, is not.

I've yet to experience rbtrees comment on how the CMI pullies can pinch the climbing line, but I can see how it can happen.

The CMI is more compact...the Fixe takes up more space on the carabiner. That's valuable real-estate up there in the front of the saddle and the CMI does not take up too much of it!

So, for what it's worth, I usually carry 4 CMI's with me and one Fixe at all times.

Gear junkie!

What, ya got two or yer DEDA, one on lifeline and one on friction saver? Sounds about right, cept, me I dont use a DEDA...and most of the time, fly a steel core flip line, where the pulleys wont work, so I'm stuck with the Gibbs. Could switch to a knut hitch, I reckon, but not now with pitch season in full swing.

Ugly??? compared to whom Chisholm or Strasser....
C'mon Roachy there are only a few dozen human beings that ever lived that can footlock like that....

I've got to get my computer and video thing going together so I can post some video clips... 19 seconds can change lives... the first person I ever saw footlock was Mark Chisholm and the "Oh my God.. what was that" light bulb went off.... The man was 60' in the tree before you'd have the first outrigger down on a bucket truck..

I think a lot of people have never seen that kind of climbing. Just seeing it will open minds as to what is possible.... bringing the indusrty to a new level.... Why would you ever wear spikes to prune a tree if you could climb like that?...
