Just some junk saws from the 80s-90s

Luckily my 61 didn't need a piston/cylinder but that's about all it didn't need..

I pulled mufflers last night. The 266SE is toast which I had figured. The 266xp, unfortunately has been dug into. Jug is loose and piston is missing. I’ll do into it deeper at some point but that was disappointing.
The 044 has a perfect piston as do the 272 488. 3 out 5 isn’t bad.

My favorite saws is the 2 series
Here's some excellent am pistons for the 266 and 268 and 272 of course
I've used 50 or more meteor's over the year's in different brands of saws
ported and non ported saws
Never a issue.
I know of the hate for china am parts
But I've built some strong running saws
Using only the oem 266/268 and 272 cylinders
And running hyway popup pistons
And dual port muffler's
It's a nice gain over stock
But to each his own.

The 268 style piston is the way to go for a 266. Meteor and Hyway are both very good pieces.

I used to use a 272 and a fleet of 372s on a daily basis, we just couldn't kill those saws. All I usually had to do was replace broken AV mounts, air filters, chains and bars, plugs, not much else. Someday I'd like to find a cheap 72cc Husky to fix up. I just can't justify buying one.

I use the windowed pistons on all rebuilds
266 and the 268 closed and open port cylinders
There is a noticeable gain in performance over the full circle type pistons.

I bet ya can get a 266 piston from husky still.....wont be as cheep as a metror but factory stuff.....Looks like a nice all metal brake flag......I have run a few metor piston kits and I think about the best of the aftermarket.....cool stuff that 266 super easy to put crank seals in...

ha also 266 had a update for the recoil pulley.....they can crack at the hub makes he saw feel like it has bout 300 psi compression...they can split at center and the rope doubles over and kind of jams when ya pull...
