wau....keep us in no more suspense!! we have all been waiting for this!!! who beats who and by how much - nothing like the conflicting ideologies at work!!! tell us quick someone!!!

PS. kd. i dont think this canuck has a chance in figuring out which way these chains go so im awaiting for your response as to some statistical answers..lol..really curious:confused: :D

PS. did walt modify that chain in an hour? really?

The great chain race

Allright all you racing chain guys,
Finally recieved the video of walts racing chain. John had sent me 5800 KB of video's and walts video went over my storage capacity. anyway here are the results. I timed each cut 8 times and averaged the results,
walt galer's chain 1.74-1.76 seconds in 8 by 8 inch cant

art martin' chain 1.16-1.18 seconds in 8 by 8 inch cant

dennis greffard's 2171 1.34 seconds, 8by 8 cant with art martin's chain

John used his 385wxp to make the cuts he is very consistent cutting

I can't put the videos on arboristsite but if you send me your e-mail site and if you have 1900 kb storage available i'll send them for you to look at or time if you want

Hi Ken, we'll send some more times from Washington, but wont post the times for fear no one will enter the races at Clearwater lol

I was looking around for some interesting stuff and came upon this old thread wherein I began my association with Ken, Dennis, John and Robert. Check out the times for the 2171 G, 385 WXP and the Art Martin vs. Walt Galer chains. Much bigger difference between chains than between powerheads.:D

Doug, I forgot that I even wrote on this thread...I love the second and third replys though, I guess we have come a ways since then. Sheesh, what was I drinkin that night. And in response to your ? on how the Predator is comming, I would say its about done.

Yeah, you got that right Robert. I'll give you a call later this week. Dennis should be getting my check for the saw and coil any day now. It'll be in Ken's hands in a couple of weeks. Either that, or it will sit in the back of a camper for a couple of months!:D

Oh yeah, Robert, why don't you fly out and join Lambo and me for a few days of a$$holery next week. We'd love to have ya out here!

Doug..Ken and I were contemplating flying out there...I have about 10 buddies in Ottawa that want to come as well...so maybe we can make this another Clearwater??? If we get about 20 guys..we can have some fun....:D :D ;)

I would be there in a heartbeat if I had not spent all my money in Clearwater. Maybe Dennis should send me a 1st class ticket and while he is at it pay the freight on the Predator to the non Clearwater revival.

...Robert, man if you could have driven home safely without cutting up half of the bar on the way out...they just may not have arrested you...you dont even know how much it cost me to have those guys give you that fine....lmao

Ha, hah, caught you two talking behind my back aye! I'm reporting this to the moderator!

DB.."No doubt guys like Ken and Dennis really know there stuff."

That is a serious compliment to myself, and I thank you...but you should know Ken Dunn has probably forgotten more information than I know...everything that I have learned, I have learned from the master himself...I talk to him several times a week..(more like a day)...lol...with questions on certain things...and to talk about John L behind his back of course....

Hello DB,
As Smokey Yunick, the best ???? nascar mechanic there ever was used to say, If you've built the engine right and your ahead as you cross the finish line and the engine scatters you've built the engine just right.
I build chainsaw racing engines and modified fallers saws, and there are no reliability problems with either. The woods saws will outlast a stock saw. I've got one logging contractor that has 4 years service with a 371 husky and 2 years service with 2 372 huskys. uses them every day. if you port your motor properly and radius all the edges on your ports it will last longer on a woods saw than a stock saw.the only thing that fails on a husky is the big end rod bearing, whether its a stock or modified motor. if you run a good synthetic oil at 32-1 you can eleminate that problem also
dennis, thanks for the endorsement, yea, ill bet ol john lambert's are really ringing at times ha.ha.

I 'm going to have Darin make me a moderator so I can ignore your whining. Put the choke back into your 088 and it will run faster.

If Darin makes you a moderator than Im outa here. While Im putting the choke back in my 088, you can put the thin ring 088 piston back in your 3120 for that added compression.

I think you two need to get a room? Put some of that spam between those two... hey, by the way ya'll, Tenneessee is playing Florida tomorrow. Where's Spurier?

Hi Seth, that's ok, I know it's in good hands. When the snow gets deep and crusty, put the chain on backwards, you can make a real nice igloo that way, plus have a safe place to stash your saws.
John
