Next door to the saw shop is Verizon and they have this complete piece of **** rusted out heap of a grapple truck that looks like it was put together to build tanks in world war 1 and that thing throw 90 ft telephone poles around like I throw chopsticks , you just gotta learn how to be awesome with it , we had one on a old morbark chipper and that grapple couldn't even hold what it could lift so we welded short chains on it so the grapple wouldn't open LOL . You'd be surprised is what my dad always says LOL

One thing I haven't figured out yet is if I am just gonna build my own trailer or buy one all together. The ones baileys sells are only 15'6" long and that wouldn't be long enough to put the mini on the back.

Have you tried to find one of those blue ox units. I know they seem pricey is the only drawback on those.

They aren't in business anymore. Baileys sells the complete trailer grapple and motor unit for around $30k for the big one

At least with a trailer your getting a new one vs a pretty beat up grapple truck for the same $.

Well that's not all gather true. But I see your point. You could build a nice grapple truck for that, it would take some luck and time tho.

I got a flyer from baileys with them for sale. About $10k for the trailer, $15k for the loader and $4 for the Honda motor and hydraulics. I think I can buy a trailer and make the logs bunks for well under $10k. Only thing with doing that is I would have to mount the motor and grapple myself.

Well I'm sure you could do that. It would help to see one in person and take pics of it all, and then duplicate it. You could probably make many improvements over there's ..

We are thinking of buying a knuckleboom/grapple........so what words of advice as to advantages of having one compared to the cost.....we feel like we can be more efficient and possibly cut out the use of a loader and chipper on some jobs......especially jobs where we can get the truck close to the tree

There is a truck with a small crane deal on it beside my yard. I will take a couple pics of it monday. The owner of the company died a while back and the shop is for sale or lease so im sure the truck is for sale.

A couple years ago when I got my DOT numbers a women from the DOT was calling and was telling me I needed to have an audit done. She started telling me about all the drug tests and all this other horse **** that I had to do for a certin amount of time. The first time she called I told her off and hung up, but she kept calling to make an appointment. I started reading the rules and regs and it said if your traveling out of state you have to go through all that house **** and when I filled out the DOT thing online I put that I traveled out of state. I called her up and told her that I filled it out wrong and I only travel instate and she said no problem and she would change it and lift the out of service on the trucks. I did not want to get caught up in all that ****! The shop that does all my work inspects my trucks for free and just lets me know what they need.

Here in pa you need to be a state certified inspection mechanic so that would work. Plus without the window sticker you would be getting pulled over all the time

You still need to be a state inspector to get a window sticker around here too. When you get pulled over by the DOT goons, they don't care about a window sticker, they want to see your paperwork. I'll bet you can write your own inspections in Pa, too, but you would certainly be without the window sticker.

Getting the federal annual window sticker in Mo? I have never seen one. Even when you pass a state highway patrol inspection, they won't give you a sticker.
