I have some and it seems to be ok.
I made a decent square chain out of it.

You know, I was going to ask that, but I have been beaten to the punch. I'm glad to hear its a good chain, I may just buy some soon. I've got a 70DL Sandvik 50A chain, full comp round chisel. its not the Windsor branded chain, its the older one that was stamped with SANDVIK on the tie straps. Good thing Laser brand isnt too bad on quality and price.

i sell and use laser chain. easy to sharpen, good stay sharp ability, longer cutters, fast break in periods to mention a few. one negitive point i did find was since they changed builders the full chisel chain had a more relaxed working corner. in testing i found it slightly slower than before. i called gary about it and he was going to look into it. overall it is good stuff. marty

I know it’s a 14 year old thread, but look at all these old members here! Where’s Walt Galer, HarleyT@ buddy. Lol
Anyway, I just ordered a 25’ reel of Laser 058/ 3/8. Hopefully it’s as good as Oregon 73LG.
Will let you know. I think it was 90$ US. delivered.
I have used a few Laser chains and have noticed different cutter lengths every now and then. Also a few cutters seem to be harder when hand filing, but also notice that on Oregon and Husky brands (same brand?). All of Laser loops are marked Carlton and here is a few pics of 3/8 chisel. Carlton did some private labeling (including Woodland Pro), then was bought out by Oregon / Blount (as were Windsor - Sandvik if I recall correctly). Oregon made Husqvarna's chains until a few years back, when they started making their own.

There are some big '3rd party' manufacturers like TriLink (which sell their '000' marked chains under many different brand names, including 'PowerCare', 'Silver Streak', 'County Line', etc.); Archer (discussed in other threads), etc. Then there are contract manufacturers who will outright copy other company's designs (maybe waiting until patents and trademark protections end, maybe not). And there are counterfeit products. So you can not go by appearance alone.

It's not technically difficult to stamp chain links out of a coil of steel and rivet them together. Doing it consistently, using intentional designs and specifications, and maintaining quality are a bit more challenging.

If folks find a lesser known or 'no-brand' chain that works for them - go for it. When these chains are selling for close to what the 'top tier' chains can be found for (maybe on sale, or with some careful shopping), I would personally be inclined to go with the STIHL, Oregon, Carlton chains.

Speaking of old members. Where is Marky Mark, Doug Babcock, Jokers, RAH Treelimbs, RB Tree, Dennis Greffard, etc.

Anyway, I got the Laser reel of chain yesterday and although I haven’t used it yet. (It’s raining), I made up. 20” loop and I think it’s a Husky designation as A58 is stamped in the drivers.
It files and looks like Oregon and hasn’t got that superfluous gullet material that Carlton has.
Can’t wait to do some slicing and dicing!

Windsor and Sandvik were bought out years ago. Might still be OK chain, but probably different than 2004.

Let us know!

Looking at my 1985 Sachs Dolmar 110 tonight and noticed the chain is stamped SV. What should I know about the Sandvik and Windsor chains? No other markings but it’s an 0.325 on 18 in bar so I must have bought this chain for the larger bar…. many years ago. It was extremely sharp. Thinking maybe sharpened in past 5 -10 years w Stihl 2 in 1. Thanks for any info.

I have had and do have some semi chisel chain labled Sandvik Windsor in 3/8 that holds an edge real good. Never recognized any flaws. I like it as well or better then stihl rm. I think it files a little easier then rm.
I have used it in .325 but I am not sure it was as good as the 3/8.
