Started cleaning the cases tonight since the parts to put them together should be here monday. Slow going trying to get all that grime out with diesel and compressed air, but we are making progress.

Also need to figure out what carbs I have so I can order a rebuild kit. I thought they were both the same, but they are not. The one on the right is from the 625. The one on the left came with the parts lot I bought, and I have no idea what the second nipple on the side is for.

I've been down with the sickness for the past week, so no progress on the project saw. Decided I felt better enough today to get out of the house for a few minutes.

Before I got sick I has put the case halves in a bucket of diesel to soak overnight, but that turned into a several day bath. I pulled them out today, and cleaned them up the best I could (Still working with my original 625 cases for now)

All the crud washed off pretty well revealing more damage underneath then I originally thought, but I think I can still work with them. Bearing pockets are rough, but I think they will clean up. The joints for the case halves were rough and pitted as well, but cleaned up pretty well with a scotch bright pad on a die grinder.

I thought about trying to weld up and repair the cases, but it just doesn't seem worth the hassle to me. Actually, I'm not so sure that these case halves are original to each other as they don't seem to quite match and the paint is slightly different.

Anyway, I did some research on the cranks and flywheels and it seems Husky did have several different cranks and flywheels throughout the years, but all 3 of my cranks and flywheels have the same parts numbers, so I'm not going to worry about it, and use the best crank. I put the new bearings on the crank today, and have the cases inside warming up overnight and I'll attempt to put them together tomorrow. I never did have any success with finding motoseal or anything similar, So I'm going to use Blue RTV.

One last note, I was watching a Ironhorse video awhile back and he was talking about adding JB weld to the cases under the cylinder to trying to make a smoother passage/flow for the air going to the transfers. He was working on a 372XP, and the 266XP style cases seem to have a bit more slope above the bearing pockets, so I don't think I'm going to mess with it.

Well, I was going to assemble my lower end tonight, but my heat gun decided to quit working halfway through heating the first case, so I’m on hold until I can get a new one

Been busy with a lot of other things, but finally got to put the case together on the 625 project saw tonight. I had put the new bearings on the crank before. Today I headed the cases and installed the crank. I centered the crank with feeler guages once the case was together. The bearings seem to have a slight amount of drag now, but I might be imagining it.

I did install the gasket with Blue RTV as a sealant. Installed the flywheel side seals and new seals on the oil pump. I ordered oil lines from eBay, and they sent me 372 oil lines. I compared them to the existing oil line I had, and they look identical except a bit longer, so I used the new oil line.

I’ll probably get a fuel tank cleaned up tomorrow and installed it, and then try to get the rest assembled.

I’ve been busy moving into the new shop, so haven’t had much time to work on the Jonsered, however yesterday when we were in Fairbanks I had to go to orielys for some fused and noticed they had motoseal so I picked up a couple tubes for the rest of the build.
