Log splitter pumps

I have been looking at anlot if older home made splitters. How can I tell if it's a two stage pump. Thank you

or, i think if you look at the pump and it has a couple of sections to it..

A typical two stage pump will have a unloading valve as shown in picture below. The majority of two stage pump will look similar.
