We don't have laurel here but we do have salal bush and other srub brush that you have to hack out of the way to get to the tree. The worst stuff is the springy crap that you push out of the way and it whacks you in the face.

When your working on steeper ground a person has to be real careful its good to have good boots on with good ankle support I wear nothing but my vibergs when in the bush.

Some people wear caulks but they are not good when your dealing with rocky terrain because steel on rock slides like ice.

Yep, Rob I can be in Hillsboro in about an hour and fourty minutes. Why? Wanna play with some trees and equipment?:D

Believe it or not on one slop this summer it was so full of 3 and 4 foot weeds that I wouldn't know how many tops there was up there for firewood until I skid on down and that reveals others. And that stuff had been falled a few months earlier before the leaves came on the trees.

Pacific, I couldn't have said that any better........Steep ground is when you have to take your buddy to the woods with you to tie you off and let you down over the bank with a rope..........steep ground is hoping those trees will find the bottom and the tops will be broke out so you don't have to shimmy down and top it yourself..........steep ground is steep..........Wade

That's nothing.

Steep ground is when you need mountain climbing equipment and 2 Himalayan mountain men to guide you....Steep ground is when you ride down the slope on a toboggan and fall a tree on the drive by.......steep ground is when you need to hire a helicopter to lower you down on a rope so you can fall the tree......steep ground is when you fall a tree then you have to drive the skidder 3 miles down the slope to get the log.....

steep ground

Steep ground; is when the tree snaps the hinge, it doesn't hit the ground for a few seconds.
Steep ground is when you have to walk down a tree to "top"it.
Steep ground is when your only escape path is a parachute.
Steep ground is when your cutting a notch and notice a mountain goat looking at you like you are crazy.
