How much you get for those oak slabs??? Red or white oak??

I have some 3" thick, 28" wide 8'+ long ash slabs I may sell.

Are these live edge? If so your in thats an awesome bar top/ coffe table market. Oak could bring 8-10 bucks per bf if its rough sanded to at-least 40 grit.

Ok guys thanks for the help.
Currently I have a job that makes more than enough money for me to live comfortably. I am looking at milling this for some extra spending money for more saws and my saw collection to do in the summer, ect. So if i get the mill and use my saw. I already have buyers that dont want a semi load of wood just some boards to make shelves, cabinets, ect.
So will the smaller mill work for this application or not?
also i need some average prices so i can get this rolling.
Thanks

All good stuff! I like to run the largest mill my saw can handle......

Live edge means the bark is still on?? I have some with bark and the bigger ones I had to trim to get the mill thru, ie, no bark.

Sure it will work if you have people that want to buy what your alaskan mill can do but a bandsaw mill cant. Thick wide slabs.

Thanks for the answer.
I got a amish furniture maker that wants hand milled wood so hes my biggest buyer!!:msp_biggrin:

So live edge means a solid piece, yes they are solid. Came from a tree that was dead at the top but the bottom 50 feet are fine, no rot and very nice. A very small crack in the dead center of the tree but the pieces 2" before and after are fine.

I know I know , need pictures but I am always in a hurry, the slabs are sitting in my backyard, so I will try to get some pictures.

You dont want the bark still on. Just edges not square at all. This is something that has really caught on. Its called live edge furniture and a dyi'er can really makes some nice stuff with it, with little skills and call it there own (bar top dinning room tables and coffee table stuff) . I can sell black walnut from 10-18 bf the wider the more its worth. Seem's the same would apply with other hardwoods out there, but had no like with an awesome splated hickory. I like to start at-least 2-3/4 inch thick.
