I got a husky L-65 the other day complete except no Felling Dog. The saw looked toothless.
Seen one on e-bay 13.00 and change + shipping. Well lets just say i'm a cheap axx and thats it.
So I figured i'd just make my own.
#1- First i found a picture of one to find out the shape.

#2- I rubbed a little oil to where it mounts to the case to transfer the hole location on paper.

#3- I then drawed the dog to scale, using a plastic lid off a ice cream pale for the radius and a bank card for a straight edge and a folding ruler.

#4- Next i cut out the shape and stuck it to the saw for the mental image, then i came back and modified the image some more.
Cut the shape out again then another check with it on the saw.

#5- Once i was happy with the shape i glued the paper to a pizza box and cut it out with a razorblade to make it easier to trace onto a piece of 1/8" steel.

#6-I figured I would cut this out with a sabersaw so at all the sharp cut angles i drilled 3/8 holes so i didn't have to fight the saw.

#7- I use a little oil as i cut to save the blade.

#8- Once it's cut out i put the templete on top of it and use a sharpy to remark it so i have a storyline as i file it to shape.
I just use a old chainsaw file and a flat file.

#9 I clamped it to the saw and marked my holes then drill them, a final sanding and you done.

I know it's takes alot of time to make this but it's -5 with a windchill of -20 below here so off to my warm shop.
Hope this helps someone
Randy
