Not sure where to put this but the other day I purchased a Silky Hayate pole saw. What a fabulous bit of kit. I have always had a budget brand item and knew the manual saw was a useful item but this is a far superior item. Very well made and the 6.1 meter (20 foot) pole is very sturdy. It is an absolute treat for palm fronds.

Thoroughly recommended.

It also pays to shop as the prices varied by as much as $265 Aus.

i have the Stihl one.

made by ARS.it's a very valuable tool.i would have paid double.i use it a lot more than the gas pole saws.

hayate great on ground, hayauchi lighter and can be used in tree, along with all the 5 m/14' models.

I am thinking about this saw for palms Aldo. Can you give some feedback on how they go with Canary Island Dates as well as Queen palms?

I have three healthy Cocos palms on the books I'm just waiting for my lower back to sort itself and I'll see how it goes.

I have had a Wolf expendable pole saw in the back of my ute for 10 years. Great bit of kit when new n sharp quick n easy. Sadly when blade dulls you can not resharpen. I turn the detachable sawblade into a spare hand saw or root pruner. These kinda pole saws can save so much time with frustrating little trims that may often require climbing or even a bucket lift to task.
I envy the high end gear Silky and Jap stuff and one day may pony up the $ a good 6 metre collapsible pole could be the next on my list.
For Palm work yer ok but as you need back cut space when fronds are crowding it can be a trick. Way better than sitting in close with a face full of nasty palm frond n dust spiders ants rats, oh and OMT sometimes cats.

I should add that the palm I used it on was a Cabbage palm job. It was a pleasure to keep away from those fronds. It was great to use and made short work till my two chainsaws played up and made me look like a choko

Looks like I need to brush up on my home tuning.
