The sealing rubber on the filter on my saw was always good not folded over or deformed in any way
I have got into the habit of putting a little grease on the seal area and the screw down hole.

I was doing that as wellI have got into the habit of putting a little grease on the seal area and the screw down hole.
You get 2 filters with each kit. It takes about as long to wash them as it does to get the fine junk out of the HD2.Ya i know i should get one but they are not cheap and the extra time in cleaning and mucking around puts me off.
Then i need one for the 461,660,880 its all to hard
That is not normal. Either the filter is defective or was installed incorrectly.
Would you like me to give a demonstration on how to tap out a filtre?i ran my 461 whole days falling without cleaning and i never noticed a power loss. filter was caked!!!
Just my 2c here .... do yourself a favor and get the max-flow ... if you are doing a lot of cutting it will pay for itself right quick by eliminating down-time of the stop drop and tap stock filter dance ! Make sure to use a good tacky oil and apply liberally to the foam element ... I’ve gotten Many Many tanks worth of cutting and No fines/dust get into the firing chamber ... the stock setup is not very robust - why risk dirt getting into the engine ?I just bought a ms661 c-m. One tank of fuel through it. I will inspect the fit of the air filter closely. The saw, once broke in, will go on a Granberg 36" mill. The stihl rep i talked to in regards to the air filter said a sharp chain shouldn't produce fine dust. I didn't want to push the subject so i let it go.
Thanks for the info. I'll definitely put the max air flow in the to do list.Just my 2c here .... do yourself a favor and get the max-flow ... if you are doing a lot of cutting it will pay for itself right quick by eliminating down-time of the stop drop and tap stock filter dance !
