Don't know about your racing question but the this mac is an 80cc saw made in the late 60's.

The saw I have is a Super 250 with a yellow cover over the carb. Also the oil cover is threw the carb cover. The saws on that site all have black covers. Does anyone know if this would be the 87cc saw?

The super 250 is the 87cc saw. Must be your saw then. As was mentioned before, the saw would still need some major tweaking for a race saw. Good saw though.

Hi 064, one advantage to modifying these old McC saws is the availability of kart performance parts that bolt on to these saw engines. Many of the earlier hotsaws were built this way. I started a Super 44 hotsaw project about one year ago, but have been sidetracked from the start with a new house construction. Here are the parts I have purchased to modify the super 44. The pipe is called a "blimpy"?. The carb and reed block are stock McC kart intake, should be plenty of flow for my 80cc engine. Not sure what brand the crankcase stuffer is, but it has more volume than the saw part it will replace. Just be sure to check clearance when buying a different stuffer. They all look similar, but some will rub on counter weights, or need machining to fit block. The 250 frame will be easier to modify, the gas tank is out of the way. My super 44 will have to be cut up a little to fit the kart intake. I don't expect to win anything in the 5cu class, but will have fun with it anyway. Good luck.

If you ran really fast holding the saw, this handy little attachment might give a "supercharge" effect to boost power.
