McCulloch Chain Saws

Trying to locate a helper handle for a McCulloch chainsaw. Would prefer it fits a 4-25 saw.

I have been led to believe this is a McCulloch. If so, can someone give me the rundown on how to get the 'kill' switch to 'kill'? What's the best place to start?

I found I can wiggle the stop slide side to side and it will shut down. I'll admit it don't appear to be one of Sears better offerings. Had it confused with a late model Poulan when I flipped over the cash.

carl, i've been know to take them switches apart and clean with electrical contact cleaner. sometimes it actually works. shouldn't be that hard to get it out.
might could even just spray it without disassembly and exercise the heck out of it. sometimes that works too.
could just be one of the contacts is not springy enough to maintain contact. you'd have to disassemble to find that out though.

Any help on ID of this saw? How do you tell the 200 300 350 380 saws from one another? It appears to have 2.125 bore and no marking that I can find. It runs with fuel down the carb. Doubt I'll ever use it but maybe trading stock?

P/C look pretty nice. Compression is only 130----what's a good number for these?

Look on the bottom of the crankcase, the model and serial number will be stamped there.

Thanks, it's a 250. That was pretty easy. Would 130 be on the low side for compression or is that what these older saws run?

A really good one could be a lot higher, 150-160+ is certainly possible but you will find it still runs pretty strong with 130.

Well I couldn't resist cleaning the carb. Damn these are loud!!!! Now I need a gas cap and some .404 chain that is a bit shorter. Is it possible to reverse the insulating portion of the kill switch? I'm assuming there's supposed to be a wire from the coil to the switch which grounds it----but the way this one is it's bass ackwards. Any Mac guys in NE Indiana? So $3 and a couple hours cleaning isn't too far out of line for an 80cc saw.

Mcculloch Mini Pro 30.
Ignition coil seems to have failed.Am wondering if there's a modern equivalent? With electronic ignition perhaps.I've thoroughly cleaned points so thats not the issue. There's a minor tingle to the fingers if i spin the flywheel with a drill.

Is there a part number?

I have never seen the Mini Pro designation before, and the rear handle is quite different from all the other Mini Mac models, interesting.

None of my IPL's show any electronic ignition for the Mini Mac saws. That said, the electronic ignition unit from a 300 Series saw might work. I have not had any 300's apart so I don't know for sure how the parts compare.
