Tim, is there a pressure test procedure somewhere?
TIA

I have a 10-10 question for you guys deep into these wonderful saws. I have a later model short clutch cover with chain brakes model pro Mac 10-10. It is in real good shape, on a compression test pulled 175 psi in about 4 pulls. I put a K10SDC kit in the carb, as it ran, but was rich and wouldn’t go past fast idle because running way rich and spitting gas. I read through an “026 spitting gas” thread, I haven’t leak checked the carb yet, will do that next. Any other suggestions? I will check the auto Oiler check valve next as the carb kit did not solve the issue.

Yes it's in the Walbro manual
It's 8.5 mb so I have that stored on a cloud storage site. You can access that manual in the link below. Have a read through that manual. It's not too long and has some very good info.

So I found a mac 35 in the middle of the woods off the side of a 4 wheeler trail in the woods of Maine, no bar, seized, probably been there for 20+ years. Any interest in parts or the whole thing?

The saws turned up today, the 7-10 is missing the flywheel and starter. I have those parts but I think it probably needs a full rebuild. I have a super pro 70 and a pro mac 700 as well.
The 10-10 starts, looks like its done its share of work. The 1-51 started too , it'll look good on the wall with the super 250 .
Got some of the mini macs started, they can be some other suckers problem.....I mean they are for sale.

OK I guess I'm a little lost. Carb pressure test? Some are so tiny. Can you give me a run down on this and why you should? Eager to learn!

Applied 30psi to fuel inlet and pulled engine over with choke on. No pressure drop as is supposed to happen as per manual? So would that mean the metering diaphragm is not flexing?

With diaphragm in place near 40psi
Removed the needle pops at 22psi and resets at 14psi. Carb kit will be installed

You want to be careful about applying too much pressure when testing a carburetor as you run the risk of rupturing the diaphragms with too much pressure.

They generally should pop off between 7 and 14 PSI, more than that suggests the spring it too strong or something is jammed in there. Back to your original problem of flooding, if there was something holding the metering needle open, it's gone now.

You would have to pull the saw over enough to pass the fuel from them metering chamber to cause the needle to unseat, I doubt you went far enough.

You can test the metering mechanism by bumping the metering diaphragm with a blunt pin of some sort through the vent hole; that should open the needle and release some of the pressure. I like to bump them several times to make sure the needle seats each time.

Guys I now have a problem with my pro Mac 10-10s. The gasket between the fuel tank halves is leaking. Can I make a new gasket from rubber, use moto seal or should I hunt for a NOS one? Thanks

The guy that sold me the 10-10 and 1-51 is slowly working his way through a shed full of the trade ins owned the lawnmower shop he just bought. Says there's more.

Fuel tank gaskets for the 10 Series McCulloch saws are available on E-Bay, original cork have come down quite a bit with competition from the rubber reproductions.

Thanks, I’ll order one.

I have been playing around with saws for quite a few years and can't believe that I have not come across that manual. It has a pile of great info!

Got my very first 10 series mac on the weekend. $35, the old guy was selling it because he couldn't turn it over any more after his shoulder surgery. I could barely turn it over without the decomp. It started right up though. Needs cleaning and a thorough inspection.

I can't believe how compact this saw is for its displacement. my other 80cc saws are huge in comparison.
What are the SKF seal numbers?

Which model of the 10 series is that? I thought the 80 cc saws had the larger airbox? This looks more like a 10-10 automatic or 10-10A.

SP-81, the earlier 80cc models had the same low profile airbox as the 10-10s, the later ones have the larger airbox.
I've been waiting to get one of these for a while now, patience pays off in the end.
