Maybe, right now is the time to buy a back-up saw. I find that rushing repairs, because I want to get back to cutting, does not always produce maximum craftsmanship. YRMV.

Maine is a great place to buy used 50cc pro and semi-pro used saws.

I don't have one of those special cylinder bore gauges. I do have a measuring caliper--not sure I can get an accurate bore measurement that way.

For crude measurements feeler gauges will work ~+/- 0.001"

You thinking there may have been some slap happening?

Clearance will tell.

Can I replace just the piston and keep the cylinder?

Clean up cylinder and inspect carefully, take some more pictures.

As an aftermarket jug, I'd look for good used OEM. Not sure if other models will swap cylinders? What happened to original cylinder? Often they can be saved.

Want to be sure no pieces in the bearings/bearing damages. Don't buy parts until you access the damages.

Not sure if husky gasket sets come with seals? Stihl sets do and less expensive than seals alone
