I'm guessing its that big notch in the stump where the 125 is parked
Too late. Been trying to get on AS all afternoon. Gave up and looked at springs on eBay. I just straighten the kinks out and flattened the little hook. Reassembled, put some tension on it and replaced the cap. Wasn't sure of the pre-load so I just guessed. It works fine. Made a cup out of aluminum and put the MAC handle back on it with the cup first, followed by a steel washer then double knot.
It is a tin cover over the gas cap. Allows the vent to work while keeping out the rain.

If you haven't seen it yet there is a new thread from a gal claiming that her dad has a never fueled SP125C.

New PTO crank seal in the SP81E and I decided to throw a different B&C on her. 28" with a Full Skip Oregon chain.
Also threw in a pic of my brother in law's SP81. He's running the same bar, but a Full Comp chain. And although on the compression tester, mine reads slightly higher, his takes a lot more brute force to start than mine, even with the compression release in!

Ya, but not as bad as if it where a vintage hard nose Mac bar lol.
How much am I really gonna use a 99cc gear drive with a 42" bar anyway lol. If I'm being honest, its gonna get hung in the garage and brought to a GTG to cut cookies unless someone I know needs help with a huge tree again.
The $109.00 pm700 arrived today. Its very oily grimy. The fuel tank is missing the 2 bolts to hold it on. One at rear carb and in oil tank. The 2 bolts under the carb were loose. The coil was very loose rubbing the flywheel. Has the wrong spark plug in it. But, it has great compression and no scoring on the piston or cylinder!! I can replace bolts. The clutch cover though broken at muffler is usable. I have one off of a sp81 i can use if it makes it look better. But i think ill have a great runner once i clean it and put it back together. Ill post once its clean and running. Jethro, its got a sdc 44a carb on it.
Good job Vinny a good p/c with some extra parts for free very nice it's odd about the missing bolts though. Is it the older all yellow or black and yellow?
I've got a 7-10 headed my way in the weekend $60 apparently runs but will see. I wanted the clutch cover at that price anyway
Its the newer black and yellow. Most of the cover fasteners are allen head. Itll take lots of cleaning but most i get do. Not many people clean it seems. This poor 700, i tell the wife i saved its life..lol. it had so many wrong things, the bar mount was also incorrect. It wasnt oiling the chain. Id say the best thing that happened to it was the pull rope broke.
I bet you got a funny look for saying that haha mine does. Lucky saw very lucky and it amazes me how much builds up under the starter housing I had one that was near an inch thick

Check this video out. It's 8mm footage of an old Lumberjack festival. I'm trying to date it but judging by the Mac 10-10A that's in it and (what looks to be) an SP81 right behind it at 0:32, I'm guessing it's right around 1973-1974. The video is pretty clear for the time. It's almost like a direct window into the past. Pretty cool stuff.
Wondered why no sound,then I remembered Dad's Super 8 camera he used in mid-late 70's didn't have sound either....lol

Ok, got my phone to computer picture exchange working, so here is a few pictures from Saturday with Ron cutting with his SP125C.
Ron was standing in a drier spot at that point, but at times we were cutting in ankle or above deep water and it rained on us all day.
This is a mostly level concrete parking lot/wood lot that does not usually have water covering it except for a few spots where the concrete is broken.
I did not bring a Mac because I did not want to get them out in the pouring rain, why I don't know because I have before. That is what they make cheap plastic saws for. I had to dewater and clean the two saws I brought. They were a ball of mud and sawdust.

You two lads are a keen pair of good keen men. Any particular need to get it cut in that or do you guys just love cutting wood that bad? I'd be in it too as once the saw is running ya tend to forget all that and get on with it. Good job fellas
I cannot speak for Ron but me it is several things. First is giving back to your community, something I was taught all my life. Then the love of helping people who cannot help herself. Sometimes it's that I need to get out in the woods and with the chainsaw I have to concentrate on it and nothing else. It's kind of therapy for me. As the week is full of people wanting something for nothing, Just people getting under my skin, I am in nature and doing something that I love, with some like minded, great people. When a tree is cut down and I buck it up, it's a job well done and Ron and I never judge unless it's ourselves and to tell the truth Ron judges his self way too hard. He does a great job felling trees. I think the best we have in the group.
