Anyone here know if there's an aftermarket or do-it-yourself version of a fuel line for the PM6?My old PM6 is just that - old,it has the felt tank filter.The PM6 I got today has a "new fuel line" in it,made up by someone in Pa.I haven't tried the saw yet to see if it'll start or run.

I made one from RC copper fuel line, Tygon, and a filter. I used the original nipple and grommet. Inserted bent line into nippled piece then inserted into tank from inside. Worked perfect. The copper tube expanded the rubber enough to seal.

This is all well & good as long as you have the original nipple,my saws have an open hole where the line used to be.
If the large felt fuel filter is still inside the tank, it may have the original fuel line stuck in it as well.

Is the line supposed to be sticking out of the tank like in the above pic?I have the nipple sticking out of the tank about 1/2 in.I'm afraid to pull on it for fear of breaking the line. I called Bob J.to see if he had any lines & he may have one that he got in some unwanted parts from Buford Parrish.Bob said he'd give me a quarter to see if I could put a new felt filter in the tank,Lol.
Installation is a bit of a trick. You have to wind up the filter with the fuel line installed, poke it through the fuel cap opening, then unroll it inside the tank and work the nipple through the small hole in the side of the tank.

That little nipple sticking out of the fuel tank is all there is, it fits the extended fuel inlet on the MDC carburetor to complete the connection.
I have had some success on some that were a bit old and dry adding a couple of #007 o-rings to the base of the nipple, seems the combination of stretching it a bit and the O.D. of the o-ring makes a good seal.

This is exactly what my fuel line/recoil looks like.It's soft & pliable & looks new.I can even see 3 little tits on the end of the fuel line.I'll have to rebuild the carb & replace the insulator as it's broken into pieces.Can the old insulator be glued back together & reused?

My 450 with the rotten (internally) fuel tank came up alright. Running a choke type flatback. Had a massive air leak (clearly what stopped it on the previous owner) via the manual oiler and fuel tank to stuffer gasket and a minor one via one of the reed plate to block mounting bolts.

I'm pretty sure the fuel line in my PM6 recoil housing is good to go.I plugged the carb into it & it fit snugly.I rebuilt the carb today,so that's out of the way.Possibly I'll install that tomorrow & I'll see if the saw has spark.Possibly even get it to pop.
Something that irritatesd me about the MDC kits that are out there.None of them include a metering lever.The old lever I had in the carb was the old style with no fork to it,only flat to fit the old style needle.They include a new needle with the top that's for the forked metering lever.The new needle & old needle are different heights,so I couldn't just sit the new needle in the seat & put the lever on top.Fortunately the old needle was like new.

Now for the bad news.I bought a Monkey Wards 2.1.Pretty much the same saw as the 300 series saws,Eager Beaver 2.1 & the Wild Cat.Reason being - I didn't have any Monkey Wards saws,Lol.The seller said they put fuel in it & it wouldn't start.I put a new fuel filter in it first thing,then fuel it up & it started right up.Unfortunately the top cover that goes over the carb for the throttle lock & choke rod broke in two.

Ed - I have those covers available as a 3D printed part. Not exactly OEM but a pretty good, functional substitute. I am not sure I have ever seen one of that type that was not broken when you tried to handle it. I will try to remember and put one in your package when I get things wrapped up.
I have your PM310 about 80% complete. I went ahead and put new seals in it as it seemed to have a bit of a vacuum leak. Look through your stuff and see if you have this style AF bracket and choke...
The one you sent with the parts is for the older model with the separate air box/cover and doesn't fit quite correctly in the space. I did modify it to fit but the choke operation is not perfect.
The carburetor needed some attention.
One nice thing about the Zama carburetor is the check valve comes out as an assembly making it easy to test the function. This one is good by the way.
I'll add some further updates tomorrow.

I wasn't sure if I'd gone through that carb or not,apparently not.I'll tell yopu right now that I don't have any of the components for the carb box (choke rods,throttle locks,etc.) What I had is what I sent you.I'll check to make sure tomorrow.I did end up buying several air filters for a good price on eBay tonight for the 300 series saws.
Edit:Come to think of it,I might have a parts saw with that AF bracket in it.I just looked & yes I do have the bracket & choke,but no choke rod.
I have some good news about one of my PM6s.My granddaughter came home from schpol today & said "there's a saw here in the hall".She picked it up & handed it to me & asked if that was the saw I was missing.It was indeed the saw that I thopught was stolen.How it got there in the hall is beyond me,but I think I was going to take it out to the garage to work on,but never quite made it.It got covered up with old shoes & boots & junk & that was it,a time capsule,Lol.Needless to say that saw took up most of my time trying to get it to run.It has great spark & good compression.I just couldn't get it to pull fuel on it's own.I think it'll run with a new kit in the carb.The fuel nipple on this PM6 looks good too.
I did some work on the other PM6 - cleaned the points & set the gap.I got good spark on that saw too.The only thing left to do now is mount the carb.I'll do that tomorrow & pull the carb off the elusive PM6.On one of the saws I can't get the manual oiler to work at all.I drained the tank & then due to lack of kerosene,I put WD40 in the oil tank.Maybe it'll start working tomorrow.I don't know whether to get the oiler working first or get the saw running first.

Oh man. Great that it wasnt stolen ed. Funny it was hiding from you.
You may want to change the bracket & choke, the choke rod is part of the air box. It actually runs and pulls pretty well the way it is. You have to work it just a bit to get it fully closed for a cold start and it doesn't open quite all the way...none the less it cuts just the way it is.
