Thank you!
No, I wish I did though, but I have tons of pictures. SawKing has a video of the same model on his YouTube channel.
It's a virgin in my mind.... I haven't cut with it yet. Still has the original Mac bar and chain. The bar in the avatar is a new 30" Carlton Bush Champ in 3/8 063. I liked the way the white bar looks on it. I'm waiting for a big order of parts for it from the West Coast. The fuel vent system needed replacing. This is my second attempt to get all the parts. The last two orders i've ordered something for the fuel vent, and have gathered maintenance stuff and what not. I also ordered a 3/4 wrap handlebar on the last order. I had a thread with a poll about what handlebar is preferred, so I thought I would find one for this saw. I haven't put the saw in the wood yet. Nor have I used the PM8200, Titan 70, new Timber Bear, one of the PM650's, J-red 490, or Efco. I've ran them all except for the 8200 and the 490. The 8200 needs some parts yet, and the 490 is in town at the repair shop patiently waiting for parts access. Those are all fairly new acquisitions, within this years cutting season. I've been using the Poulan the most lately, as it's comfortable to use. After using it a couple days ago, I think i'm due for its replacement. I thin small trees and mark dead trees in the summer, and tend to cut in fall and winter. Right now i'm doing a lot of brushcutting and cleanup where i'm working. I may find the need to fall a couple big ones with the PM1000 this year, unless I use the 385. I do have a Digital-8 Sony camcorder with a tripod, and a Kodak digital camera that records. I may end up making some videos. I suppose first I need to get some good sawhorses, that way I don't get flack for cutting into the ground, or pinching the bar. I haven't cut much yet, not a seasoned vet whatsoever. But i'm getting to be good at picking up junk, raking up brush, and am pretty handy with the brushcutter. That's my game, right now..... The saw collection is just a hobby until I get this huge grove cleaned up and reap my rewards (burn wood). Still, we have tree lines next to our fields, and then the occasional storm damage tree. But i'm waiting for the day when I can sit back with a cold one and appreciate my work. It's coming along.
A little background on my saw experience.....it seems fitting since this is a thread about Mac's! The Poulan was my first saw, bought from Northern Tool on the recommendation from another forum. I wasn't so big on saws or wood, but I wanted to get the farm cleaned up and back in order. My grandpa also had his PM610 on this farm where i'm living now. At the time that I first got curious about saws, I hadn't seen the PM610 used much. The big black wrap chain brake handle was laying in a box, since the metal upright handle had busted off. To be honest, I was a little intimidated by it, due to it's age and character. Well, after using the Poulan and getting frustrated by it, I started looking into the PM610. Ordered the broken parts and everything I would need to put it in like new condition. Then I did a total teardown and rebuild. Everything up to the point of prepping, painting, detailing, and decals. Just to get a good running saw. I was impressed with the way the PM610 ran and cut, and ran it that season. Well, their came to a point where the PM610 had its limits in the size of wood it could cut, so I went researching for a bigger saw. I can't remember where I looked online, but somehow I got interested in the 385xp. Maybe it was suggested that it was a good two-saw plan to have a 60cc saw and the 85cc saw, or maybe I was looking into the 394xp but people were saying it was too bulky. Can't remember, but I did some scouting and got a hardly used 385 on ebay. I can remember when I first started it, it felt and sounded like I was running a dirt bike in my hand. It was a HUGE step up from the PM610. Well since my evolution of running and hearing ported and muffler modded saws, that 385 now seems a lot more mild. My first major project that I wanted to tackle with the 385 was a silver maple that had a huge fork coming off of it exactly horizontal with the tree. And man, when that saw first touched wood, the huge chips it was throwing hypnotized me. Anyways, that's pretty much when the symptoms of CAD started catching up. Thanks to ebay...... I invested in a bunch of PM600-series saws, some that I made into runners, some that I haven't messed with. And that's what got me here. And from here, well i've added a few more.
I can honestly say, it's the most inexpensive and rewarding hobby that i've found yet. I love it!!
