Thank you to everyone on this thread that has helped me. I saved a Pro 10-10 Automatic! This was my first chainsaw repair and it was a blast! I bought this a running saw, but it did not want to do work in the woods. Now, I should be ready for spring cleanup here in Minnesota.
To fix it, I picked up another non running Mac that had a better piston / crankcase assembly. I swapped the motors. The Pro 10-10 A now has a fresh seals, carb rebuild, gaskets, and a chip. Compression is fine but not excellent. It should do for my purposes nicely!
I had never run a Mac before buying this old saw, and it really does seem to feel bigger than a modern 50cc saw. The $40 combo bar and chain from Menards is a 20" and it seems to balance nicely.

Italian Macs? Starting at 50cc?
I think I found an IPL for them or close. All the research I have had time to do for now. I need more coffee, and the turkey woods are calling.
Completely guessing here, but perhaps a 950,960 and 970?
Italian Mac saws contemporary with the Titan 55 PM54/55 models.
I have a few saws from that era but none that are presentable yet. Generally speaking they are nicely put together but were not really top of the line models even in their day.
You may notice the cushion is cut away from the front handles on several of these saws...I picked them up in Oregon a few years ago and Mr. Chainsaw told me they came from the Oregon chain manuacturing plant where they had been used in testing the kickback propensity of different chain designs. I guess they were strapped in some kind of test rig and the forces were measured and recorded. At least one had a broken rear handle from the experience.
From similar models, I would gather that they were roughly 50, 60, and 70 cc model saws. The 20" bars seem a little optimistic for the 50...

I vaguely remember hearing this story before...
I got the 10-10a lightweight out for a bit tonight. It is the one that first gave me CAD. it had been quite a while since I put a tank through it and I had forgot how much I like that torque monster albeit a loud torque monster. Not the best video but you get the idea.

That is one of the later ones with the integral air box/cover. Maybe Ed could use some parts.

That is fine as well. I favor the 10 series, 700's 850's etc. But I know some fellas are pretty in to these. Got it for near nothing so I figured why not grab it.
