Update on the 610 build - I put the carb on today,a Zama POS (I hate Zama carbs).The ignition module I put on was a dud,so I had to pull the recoil off again & put a new module on.The saw fired on a prime,but wouldn't pull fuel on it's own.Tomorrow I'll have to pull the carb (Zama POS) & see if I can find a Walbro in my stash.

For the record Ed, I am a fan of Zama carburetors, particularly on the Mini Mac saws. They seem to be manufactured from better materials, or maybe they are just that much newer than the Walbro MDC's but I rarely have any issues with the Zama carburetors on those small saw. The Zama C2 used on the PM800 and its relatives is also a good performing carburetor that in my opinion has better acceleration than the Walbro SDC counterparts.

Anyone know why the cylinder on this 755 is red?
I decided to just order a nova chip for the 1-72 flywheel removal isn't going good. If I get spark I will put some fuel in the carb if it pops and runs for a few then I will continue to proceed.
A kart motor could only wish for a 2.5"bore and 166cc like a 755.Looks like a repaint orit's a kart cylinder

Sorry to hear that Jeffrey, My father and mother in law both had Macular Degeneration. Hope your treatment helps for you......going thru that now Macular Degeneration. Had macula stripped out about 15 yrs ago with a vitrectomy now have to have it done again but other eye ! Prayers your way
I agree with you Mark. My experience with the Zama C2 carb used on the 82cc saws is that it is superior to the SDC 38. Every 82cc saw I have placed a properly functioning C2 on has ran better than with the SDC. Not saying the SDC ran not well. Just the zama was better..

Well the PM610 build turned out to be a bust.I put a brand new Zama carb on it today & got the same results - it backfires after taking the choke off.It'll sputter with the choke on like it wants to start,then backfire when I take the choke off.I've NEVER run into a saw that did that.I'm completely stumped.
I got a Monkey Wards version of the PM610 in the mail today.What an abortion it turned out to be.I'd have to say that a retarded toad had more of a brain than the "person" who owned the saw.I really don't know where to start,but first of all I checked the fuel filter & the redneck moron took the filtering part of the filter off & wrapped the metal portion with an old rag & tied it on with a wire (how clever).The ignition swith & wire were missing entirely.He must've had a problem with the screws on the recoil/fan housing backing out,so he put way oversized bolts into the oil tank which basically ruined both the fan housing & the oil tank.I had to put a breaker bar on the spark plug to break it loose.Believe it or not it was a new plug in the saw.There was absolutely no flocking left on the air filter.The manual oil pump rod was missing.He completely destroyed the chain brake,the lever & big spring are gone.Apparently he didn't like the small openings for the needle adjustments on the carb,so he "opened" it right up.I think the only thing he didn't mess with was the clutch.Believe it or not,it fired on a prime,Lol.I'll have to dismantle the saw completely for a cleaning.Some people should never be allowed to have a chainsaw in their hands!
Ed - I'd try a different ignition and spark plug on your problem PM610 if you have them available. I have had limited experience with the coils failing and behaving the way you describe. My tree service friend had one that would backfire and run backwards...

They're both brand new,the plug is a Bosch HS8E & the coil is an aftermarket Chinese.
Where did you find and aftermarket for the PM610? Is it the Jenn Feng edition?

I got them on eBay for $30 each.I put one on another 600 series saw & it worked fine.I've got a coil that I bought in the hardware I bought about a week ago,but have no idea if it's any good.I can try it on the Monkey Wards saw that I got today & see what happens.

So I canceled all travel to be near for Uncle. He is on Hospice, we are beginning taking turns setting with him in order to keep him at home. I have a lot of saws sitting in the main shop floor that need refurbished and sold. To help clear my head I started on the PM 10-10's yesterday. This one had an air leak so I took it all the way down. She's in pretty good shape for her age. New seals and gaskets, installed the missing oiler retention spring clip and cleaned the carbon due to its missing out of the cylinder. Chrome is good. She will make a nice firewood saw for years to come. Rebuilt carb and gas cap will complete her.
