Kyle, I haven't kept up with your clutch drum woes. This may be what you need: MCCULLOCH D44,300-797,1-70 SPROCKET .404 | eBay

I have a NOS .404 fixed sprocket drum (part # 60919) with 4 shims that will fit a 790 but I hestitate to give it to you as some of your posts seem more like those of a spoiled kid than the posts of a hard working young man trying to find his place in life. Whether you're just having fun, trying to fit in or what not, your demeaning characterization of others (in this instance the unnamed dealer) just drags you down. We all like to kid around and assert the superiority of our chosen brand but in a public forum it is very easy to mis-speak or simply be misunderstood. My attempts at humor and fitting in here have more than once missed the mark but I hope none were taken as disrespectful or insulting. I know your hide is tough and I believe you will take this public rebuke knowing that I, as well as many others, are trying to help you when we butt heads with something you have said. If you're willing to think through what I have said, are willing to let up on your characterizations of the defenseless, and could use this sprocket let me know and it is yours.

Ron

Ron, I am quite spoiled. Thing is, I did and still do work for everything I have. My parents seldom bought me something unless they thought I deserved it and have worked hard enough to earn it.

Still looking for work... part time job has bombed, nothing is going on there right now. Very slow.

Yeah, I was too harsh on the Stihl dealer and creamsickle owners... they are not *********... if they like spending all of that money on them, fine with me. The saws aren't really crap either. Heck, I've never even run one... :D All I've ever known is the McCulloch name, it all started with that 610... I only complained about the weight once... after running it, I realized how nice it is to be able to cut wood with something that cuts by itself, unlike a hand saw.

I still learn something new (or re-learn something old...) every day... part of life.

I will start working on reducing the meaningless bashings on other brand(s), and some other crap that I seem to be known for. Sounds like many of you have been chattering again behind my deaf back... nothing new. I excel at crapping into the pot and stirring it, whether I mean to or not.

Again guys, like Ron said, I am a bit hardheaded and thick skinned... I don't always learn the first time, nor the second... might take a lot of tries to get me to understand and/or finally embed the learnt into my brain. Unless it's something hands-on, like doing brakes on a car. Didn't take me any time to learn that. Social stuff, yeah... not too great, but not as bad as some I know. (none of you guys here in this thread and most others, just friends of family and random people I've seen out there)

There I go again... 'splaining...

Back to Mac talk... Ron, I will happily pay you some money for that drum. You already gave me a nice project saw, which has since been completed, and a bar and chain for it. I don't feel quite right taking any more completely free parts from you, unless you intend them to be gifts. Also, I do have some money to spare on this project, so I don't mind dropping a little your way for a part that I need.

I will start working on reducing the meaningless bashings on other brand(s), and some other crap that I seem to be known for. Good. Sounds like many of you have been chattering again behind my deaf back... nothing new. I don't know and don't need to know.

If I didn't think you were willing to listen and change, I wouldn't have said anything. You are far ahead of a lot of guys in this area.

Kyle, I don't have much to offer back on this thread and I not only learn a lot here but for the most part enjoy the posts. Giving some of my parts is about the only way I can contribute back. The clutch drum was meant to be a gift with a string attached and I believe you have accepted the string so I'll throw it in the mail sometime soon. Ron

If you have this 'Mac Multiply' problem issue, run some of the 'opportunities' past me. I can help! :cool2:

There are always opportunities if you are willing/able to take some risks. Here was an opportunity I passed simply because I am limiting my acquistions of saws to particular models. McCulloch Pro Mac 850 Chainsaw 20"(RUNS!-WILL SHIP!) - eBay (item 120749100385 end time Jul-19-11 16:36:19 PDT) I am not located in a saw market so I have to shop CL and eBay. The pace on CL for popular models has picked up so much that eBay is usually the only venue that allows time to pass opportunities on to others. Ron

Aaron, I have a 797 tank and some of the other remains, it should work.
If the Redwood Empire GTG comes off, I'll bring about 50 pounds of stuff or
maybe send it sooner.
I got lots of other "things" brewing, haven't done anything constructive in weeks.

Cool! Fifty pounds of McGoodies. Ambull has told me he probably has whatever we need for our 790's that you don't have in your stash. Call me this weekend if you wan to shoot the ####.

Never personally met Rodalyn, John, or Brian, but am quite familiar with the history of the machine. The Jostock crew are friends and are not only currently leading the GN MOD points with Brian's help, they feed my Mac addiction with their shipping container graveyard of parts saws. J & S Repair is an [COLOR"Red"]ecentric playground[/COLOR] whether you're into Macs (Terry Sawgle shakes his head and smiles every time I throw a faded yellow heap on the counter to haggle over), mower parts, or alky ingesting blower motors.

Sounds like MY kind of place Charles...:D

On this side of the Rocky's Dealers usually charge $1 per inch of bar length, for 3/8" pitch. Go Bailey's and get some Oregon LGX, or Woodsman Pro. Kyle, I have a 28"er on my SP-80 and I went with 93DL, for ease in installing the chain befor it streches. At half life I expect to take a link out to bring it back to 92DL, which is what is recomended, IIRC. See Mc Bob's site for an accurate DL count. Have fun with that 82cc's and a sharp chain!! DS

My SP-81 has a 93 DL loop of 3/8th skip chisel on a 28" McCulloch Super Pro roller nose. It's close to the end of the adjuster. That's with a 3/8-7 rim. Was thinking about putting a 92 DL loop on next time. I would like to stay with 93 DL for compatibility with my XL-Series Homelite bars of that length however.

well i got the old 300 running---ran it for 10min and shut it off to cool down and on restart the recoil spring gave up!! oh well--Aaron did you get the cyl??------------------

Glad you got it running Kim. The package arrived a couple days ago. Haven't even opened it yet. Busy week...

The sun was in the wrong place to get any photo's of the horses as I was leaving, perhaps he will share those with us when he can. By the way, you have to be careful when working around big horses or they will make you limp (note the crutch in the first photo of the shop above).

Heres one of them! LOL

McCulloch splined clutch drums - Large frame saws

Li'l Red Barn in VA had the McCulloch splined drums last year, may still have some. Start going through all of the McCulloch Chainsaw listings on e-Bay and at some point you will find them.

Thanks for the photo Jacob, those are some fine looking big horses.

How many horsepower? 1? :D

Also, it wasn't Mark that was using the crutch, was it? I hope not...

I second the good looking big horse comment Mark made... beautiful animals for sure. You ever watch the Kentucky Derby? Man, I swear those horses are coated with some kind of special conditioner or something, they shine better than the paint on most cars...

WIldMac!

It's so so wrong, and prolly should be more in the poulan thread than this one, but I am trying to get my ported wild thing fix by going with a mac-labelled wild thing/4218/poulan pro etc. Let me know if you guys come across one for cheap...

10-10 auto

Is $25 bucks normal for a 10-10 air filter (the domed one)? Seems like a lot.

Confession

At the risk of becoming the laughing stock of this thread and being permanently banned from posting, I am publicly confessing that I have purchased not one but two non-running PowerMac 6As. I didn't do my homework or I would have known that they have a weird fuel line and carburetor which are very pricey on eBay. If I can be forgiven, I humbly ask for a little help: I have found a site that lists the fuel lines - My Part Shelf.com. Have any of you purchased parts through this source before? Before I am deservedly smacked, I also ask if I should go ahead and replace the points and condensor while these puppies are open (neither has fire but I gambled that just a filing of points is needed). Ron

New here

I just recently discovered this forum and am glad to see that I'm not the only person with this disease. I will probably be visiting regularly, as I'm also into older mcculloch chainsaws. Where do you guys go to put the lists of your saws on here?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey Jeff! Welcome to AS!

Don't worry, you're not the only nutjob here! :bang:

You can list as much of your collection as you wish in you signature ---> Go to you Profile (or is it Settings) on the upper RH side of any page here ...
