I got a Bailey's gift certificate in the mail today, from an anonymous do-gooder...

Which really rocked the house since I was in the middle of making a Bailey's order!

Thank you! :rockn:

That was me ol' buddy :D

Least I could do for you sendin' me some Mac parts... I had a feeling I had screwed up the "thank you note" that went with it.

:) :) :)

Thanks again Jacob... guys like you keep me hangin' around here mang!

Gary

So at least part of the "thank you" got through... Heck, a gal from Bailey's even called me after I ordered it online to verify if I wanted it sent to me or just straight to you.

Glad it got there before you made your order... mang.

***I had a feeling the "mang" would clue you in...***

i'm trying to take the muffler off this. it has the reed type muffler but the reed is gone, just the backing strip is present. from the bottom i see three holes, only one bolt head, and it is under the lower part of the handle. there are two more holes in the cooling shroud but no bolts.the empty holes seem to be under where the exhaust port is. should there be bolts there ? can i get the muffler out without taking the cooling shroud off ? what was the reed made out of ?
thanks

The IPL shows two long (67838) and one short (67837).

They appear to be some sort of step bolts, and the short one with a nut holding the muffler together.

It should be possible to remove the muffler without removing the entire shroud, but I would remove the brace (lower part of the handle) and any screws holding the shroud in place to allow you to flex it a bit to slip the muffler out. Be careful not to lose or damage the gasket (68149) if it's not too late already.

The reed was made from a form of spring steel.

Help Id this cover and saw

I picked these up over the weekend. First is a cluch cover. I don't know what model this is off. It has the chain tenisoner in the cover, and I couldn't find any part #'s. The guy I got it from said he might still have the saw somewhere, but he might of thrown it in a load of scrap back when prices were up.

Next up is a Mac top handle. It's missing the cluch cover, and it does turn over but I have not checked compression or for spark.

The top handle is a Power Mac6. Later model with the tube loop handle. Bonus points for the bucking spike. Looks like they sprayed it with oil, and parked it in the dustiest spot in the shop. Biggest issue I have with them is the fuel filter is a felt pad that is put in before they sealed the tank up. Early models used 1/4" chain, later ones use 3/8" LP.
