Both WWII vets - I'm not quite sure of what model bomber my F-I-L rode, B29 might be wrong - but the Mustang was his dream plane. Ron

PS I have printed both lists. Can't understand why yours is so much longer than Mark's. :smile2:

No comment......................................other than Mark already has most of the parts that he'll ever need! Mark also already has most of the saws on my 'list'...:D

Have you considered offering yourself up for adoption? You never know, he and the little lady might just want a son on the West Coast. Ron

That's my kind of tree. I always hate seeing one that size come down if it is still lively but I don't mind those that are dying - due to the long drought, we have plenty here. What MACs did you use? Tough looking crew you got there BTW. Ron

Ron,
I was hoping to have the sp125 together to try it out, but that didn't happen. I actually used a partner p100 with a 42" bar to drop it, and then an 850,805,700,and 10-10s to saw it all up.

Jeff

I spy a 440 up there Mitchell, very interesting saw don't you think? Top fuel tank like the other pro and super series saws, but the same flywheel housing as the 200 type saws.

Nice job, the side will also help keep all the HP contained as well...

Mark

Thanks Mark. You would not believe how powerful that saw is for 87cc. I just got it running this year and I put a 36" bar on it with .404 non skip chain. The saw pulled it like it was nothing burried in a large poplar. I wish that I had a video of it. If a super 250 is a stronger 87cc saw than the 440, then I want one.

Good Morning Ron.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Praying for you guys. Your words paint the picture very well.

Yes, I reckon that there in the picture below is a Tilly carby... familiar round design...

Dammit!! Why won't the advanced edit button work!?!?!

The carb doesn't make that saw a Super Kyle. A Super 44 or 55 would have "S" in front of the numbers on the block. Easiest way for you to figure it all out is to measure the bore and stroke of your saw. The D-44 is 72cc/4.4ci (methinks there's where the "44" came from) and has a 2 inch bore with a 1.375" stroke. Same with a 'regular' 55. A Super 44 or Super 55 is 80cc/4.9ci and has a 2.125" bore with a 1.375" stroke. A Super 44A has a 2.125" bore with a 1.5" stroke and is 87cc/5.3ci. Acres site lists the Super 55A as still being 80cc (instead of 87), but I question that as a possible error. These engines have removable heads. That does NOT make them Kart engines. A common misconception. Take a closer look at your carb too. Almost looks like one of the early McCulloch carbs to me................although I can't be sure without a better look. Sugar Creek just started making kits for those early Mac carbs.........so you're not screwed if it turns out to not be an HL. Pull the AF cover bracket so you can see more of the carb. I dig the early mowers BTW.

Get a pic of the bottom of the block, me thinks you have a McMungrel. No way it is a 44/55, that was the only saw to use the genuine kart head with the plug at center bore. The flippy hoods won't work with that head. Totally different flywheel shroud and hood. The flywheel goalie mask and that muffler design were unique to the Super 44A/55A only. Numbers on the block don't seem to add up to that, though... I love mystery saws.

Mcculloch chain saws, IH tractors, and airplanes... Do you guys have any of my other interests in common?

Let's say you've got a late 70's ProMac 10-10, ProMac 555, and ProMac 700... What would round out the collection of late 70's 10-series Macs?

Did this saw come from the factory with the chrome? I've never seen one like that. I like it.

Jeff

Naw. I just polished the cover and clear coated it. It looks horrible now though. The magnesium corroded under the clear coat some kind of way. I really liked the way it looked though.

I struggled with the latest SP105 yesterday, still can't get the automatic oiler to work right and now the manual has stopped completely as well.

I will have to take the oil tank off again and go through the automatic pump once again, seems to me like the small check valve on the outlet is the cuprit, wish I knew how to check it out without putting the whole thing back together again.

I looked real close at the numbers on the block of the 55... and after some more cleaning, I noticed an 'A' preceding the 44 and the 55... and saw a 'S' stamped ahead of 44... the dash, again, is stamped through the 55... and with all of this evidence, including a removable head, yep, removable head, four allen bolts holding it on, this has got to be either a Super 44A that got mismarked as a Super 55A, or a Super 55A with a direct drive swap...

Hells yeah!!! This Mac ain't leaving the collection for sure. Don't pm me asking if I will sell it. You'd have to be offering more than 55 million to get me to let go of this beauty...

So... do ya'll hate me now? :D

Wonder what I might get from Lenny tomorrow... oh boy, it could be the greatest haul in all of saw history...

He said lots of Macs, Pioneers, Homelites, etc... hopefully his kid only is interested in the newfangled plastic stuff if he happens to dig a bit, and leaves all of that old 'crap' alone...

Again, we'll see... I ain't holding my breath too much... it all may end up being a corroded mess of magnesium. Even then, I will take it...

Never say never/always with McCullochs Charles. There's a Super44 near me (that will find it's way into my collection soon). It has the flippy hood, a hockey mask, and a 1/2" chain and sprocket (not 7/16" or .404). Another McMystery. Once I get it, you'll dig the 'custom' gas cap that's on it...:jester:

Many of us are into good brown liquor, cigars, old motorcycles, and Homelites too!

For your late-70s McCollection, I'd say a PM800 or PM850 would be the way to go. The SP-80/81 look more like the earlier 10-10's and such methinks. My 10-10A looks like the little brother to my SP-81. My PM700 looks 'modern' next to the two of 'em............more like the PM10-10 I sent to the Duke. If you get an SP80/81 you'll have to start another collection......this time with the early 10-series saws (say with a 7-10A an a 10-10A)...:D

Figured this would give you a chubby!!

Now Aaron understands why you ain't interested in his 650 any more Matt (even though it was you that asked him about it!). My 650's in better shape, except for your pretty 660 nameplate. My AF cover's as nice, but the nameplate is gone. I've never seen that style of stack muffler on Macs. Just the shorter one with all the litle square holes in the end. Return Aaron's PM about the 9-26 Homelite!!!:givebeer:

What it looks like you have is a Super 44A. The S55A and S44A are the same saw minus the gear box. They both use the same block, that is why the 55 is stamped out. It is, was, and started out a S44A. Its also closely related to the MC10 engine. If you ever decide you dont want it, hit me up I could use a clean P/C.

Come on!

Just came in for lunch and a beer!
Wife is with family so I have to get all the things I want to do now, before she comes home!! LOL!!!
As for the 650, I still want it! It will look nice next to my 3 others!!!! Covers are easy to get and there are a couple cats making name plates for these too!
This evening I have some vids to send out and 28-30 pm to return, just cruzing AS and getting my AC on before I go back out and re-cover my self in diesel, bar oil and 2-stroke!!!!
