Ok Mac heads, put your caps on. I picked up a saw today at a local farm auction and I believe it is a 650, according to Mikes, at least by looking at their foto. It has a little flap for a throttle lock, shut off switch on the left top side of the recoil cover housing, 18 in. bar, black air filter cover that covers the oil tank as well, no numbers that I can see but it was nearly dark when I got her home. Full wrap handle bar. I'll send pics when I get it into the light again. I figured for $20 bucks I can't go too wrong, can I ??? Any other tells I should look for ??

Turn the saw over and post the numbers that are stamped under there .....

You have one of the 600 Series saws, very difficult to know which model in particular unless you can find the model number / serial number tag as lots of part were interchangable and colors and parts don't really prove anything.

600134 - 605
600041 - 610
600046 - 650
600133 - Eager Beaver 3.7
600118 - 655

I don't know for sure, the switch on the recoil cover is telling me something different.

OP, please post some pix.

We need to see a pic and some block numbers from underneith (as you stated) before we can go any further in this identification. A McCulloch 650 gear drive wouldn't have a "flap for a throttle lock" (or any type of throttle lock). Probably wouldn't have an 18" bar either..........but it could have one I guess. Would likely have a full wrap handlebar (mine does). A 650 would have a small gearbox under the clutch cover. Most likely, he has some other front-tank Mac. 1-50something. 250. 300. 380. 450. Something more exciting maybe (such as a Super 250, a 550, or a Super 550). Who knows..... Here's my 650...

I wouldn't mind one, but if I paid that I wouldn't have a mind. Even this wife would beat me.

i had a guy come over about 2 years ago to buy an old mac 1-72 for parts. i wanted 30 bucks for it. it was only good for a few of the shields and outer bits. he bought it and was happy. he showed up 2 days later with wifey in tow asking for the money back. no real reason for it but you could tell by the look on her face she was the reason:laugh:
i wouldn't sell my 57, i figure. at least not yet:msp_smile: it's my new favorite saw. i wouldn't ask near that much for it when i do:D maybe $645 or so.:jester:

I have one complete, running Titan 57, another that looks to be complete and has spark and compression, not sure what else it may need. I also picked up a Titan 50 without the top cover, I think everything else is there though to make runner of of it as well. Not a bad saw for stuff up to 16" or so, I like a little more HP on anything much bigger than that.

Some will tell you that they are difficult to work on with complicated fuel and oil lines routing and connections. Since I am not doing this on the clock, I guess I don't mind so much.

Flat Back check ball assembly input needed.

Hey boys,
Got a question for you all.

Are the Check Ball assemblies (61152) for the flat back carbs scares enough to warrant reproducing them :msp_unsure:

Or is there plenty of N.O.S. still around if you know where to look?

I'm new to this affliction, and I'm still learning where to look for stuff. Been looking for one of these since late July and just now found one.

I guess I should add that the resources to do this are available to me. Even found sources for the check ball and expansion plug.

I took the SP 81 out this weekend for some firewood cutting and I had a real good time running it. This saw is lots of fun to cut with. I did find that the auto oilier is not pumping out enough oil so I had to give the manual a few pumps, when I get a chance I will see what is wrong most likely just need to turn it up or blow out the lines as their is no leaking anywhere. I did have it a bit rich where it was 4 stroking in the cut but got it tuned right. I think I will be looking for the fully adjustable carb to get the best performance out of this saw. I think it has a permanent home here and will be put back to work on a part time basis, overall I am very pleased with the SP81 and think maybe I should start looking for its Super Pro brethren.

Does anyone have one of these mac saws? What's the specs on it? Check the pics, it looks similar to my SP40
