Any luck on the 250 starter? Please PM me if you find one.

Will this starter work? I think it's from a 200. Also, is this all you need?

Starter

The starters on almost all of the front tank saws are the same.

1-40 series, 1-50 series, 200 - 300 series, 250 etc.

They are ALL identical except for the snout that engages the pawls on the 105s and 125s and 101s. It's longer on those for the airhorn cover. It is removable for the short one on the front tank saws, 795L, and MC-91s.

That's a mid '70s 10-10 Automatic he's holding. I have the exact same saw.

I've had several of those older 10-10 saws and none of them had a chain brake. Maybe they were removed?

I don't know if the 10-10A ever came from the factory with a brake, but maybe had one as an option.

Difficult to tell from the camera angle, but it could be a Pro Mac 10-10, which did come standard with a chain brake. The colors are right for that, too.

I have had two of those saws so far. Neither had a chain brake type clutch cover, but the LH start 10-10A IPL's do show both clutch covers (non-CB and short CB-type). I've seen several of these 10-10A saws advertised on ebay on CL with pictures of them wearing that same short CB-type clutch cover. A PM10-10 would have the long 'muffler guard' type CB clutch cover.

Edit:

I just looked REAL CLOSE at the pic again. It's not a 10-10A. Doesn't have the more squared off AF cover (with domed AF underneath) as used on the 10-10A. It has the later style tank, with a yellow AF cover on the black tank top (gotta look close). Uses the later 'flat' air filter elements. I believe that saw is a PM55 or one of the other similar models with the black tank top/yellow AF cover combination.

Andy - I am not a man prone to expressing strong emotions but in this case you really suck. What I mean to say is I am jealous of your find.

That is an awesome group of saws, and while they are all very close in displacement, any one with better compression will likely cut circles around the rest.

Congratulations, I am yellow with envy.

Andy

You do indeed suck. Great scores Andy. Looks like you have the Ronald Reagan saw on the far right (PM-55), except yours looks like it doesn't have the CB clutch cover. Your bar even looks almost identical to the one on the former president's McCulloch.

Here is a larger pic of our former president. Definitely has the black tank and newer yellow AF cover. I agree with the possibility of a PM55, but what color scheme was the 555? The ProMac 10-10 had a yellow tank and black cover.

Started a new project yesterday. Here is the pics so far. You guys can probably guess what it is but you'll find out for sure when I post the final pics. MarkH, don't tell them!

BTW, those little wrist pin retaining clips are a PITA to remove.
