That looks depresingly like teh 640 that started me down this whole journey. Thanks for the motivation to get back on that one. Hopefully after taxes are done.

Mac 1-50?

The cover plate is worn badly, but I think this is a Mac 1-50. From what I have been able to find it is an 80 cc torque monster. Can any of you Mac guys tell for sure if it really is a 1-50? It has great spark in addition to the 160 psi compression. One of the bar bolts appears to be broken off.

Any help appreciated.

Picked up NOS piston rings for one of the 850 engines that I will be rebuilding later on.

Mark, if you could get the SKF or whatever brand numbers off of those 10 series crank seals you have, I'd appreciate it. I plan on ordering a couple sets from a nearby bearing house soon. I think the seals in my first 850 rebuild are done for good now. It runs fine in the normal firewood cutting position, but will pick up idle speed when tilted clutch side down. Flywheel side down, it'll slow down a little bit.

While I'm in there (will be done after I get one of the triplet 850's rebuilt and cutting) I will also be doing away with the Permatex Ultra Grey and using Threebond 1194 to seal the halves, as well as the OD of the crank seals. Otherwise, I will continue to cut firewood with it unless something real serious pops up, like consistent or intermittent lean moments. Maybe have someone weld a small pop up on the piston while it's apart...

The flywheel side is a large OD, the PTO side is very small OD.

I have a few of each if anyone needs more details, will be home again on Friday when Joey comes for a visit.

To those that have messed with the Phelon 2 piece electronic ignition on these saws.......is the plug wire removable/replaceable on the transformer? The plug wire on this ignition has a bite taken out of it about 1/2 way between the transformer and the plug cap.

Mark, that makes three of us (Aaron, Kyle and myself) looking for a number so we can avoid OS seals. I hope you can help.

Kyle, looks like you may need to change your username to promac850. I'm glad the first one is still running. If you run across Jacob (ChainsawmanXX) tell him I'm going to repossess the SP81E, if he doesn't get it going soon.

Aaron, ditch the two part ignition and replace it with its replacement single unit. Let me know if I need to look for one for you.

I was wondering what happened to Jacob. Hope he didn't wind up in a bad spot between a rock and a boulder or something. I was a bit harsh on him a couple of times. Hope that didn't get taken too personally.

I think you're right about the username change... it's time now that there are four of them...

I say let's shift the responsibility to Joey, he is coming for a visit on Friday, I'll have the computer going in the shop, perhaps between the two of us we will remember to track them down.

I have a pretty good supply of NOS seal so I don't really need the crossover, I think Struggle already has done this as well.

Somehow we ought to be able to get the information collected and posted.

dad - look again at the bottom of the saw, the Model number is stamped on the left side of the "T", the serial number on the right side. With the top styled after the D-30 and D-36 plus the full wrap handle, chances are it is in fact a 1-50. Check to see if there is a plate separating the fuel tank from the front "oil" tank, I think you will discover it is all one large fuel tank and the chain lubrication is via crank case oil residue being forced through some passages onto the chain. Notice the plug with the slot at the bottom of the "T", underneath are a spring and disc check valve for the "automatic chain oiler".

Funny how a bunch of us are rebuilding 82cc Macs around the same time...

Alright M... err, Joey. Don't forget to get us some numbers...

or we'll throw you in the brig of RandyMac's pirate ship. ARRRRR!

You guys have no idea how much I say ARRRR! nowadays... and yes, it's real. Crawling through the attic, I'll be repeating it as I crawl... getting up from the couch, I'll say it. My brother keeps telling me I sound like a pirate.

Think I might have to acquire meself a bottle of rum on my birthday...

Looks like 1-50 to me. I see a head gasket, so should be the real deal.

So... that means there is a factory Mac head out there that would fit, but has less cc capacity, thus a simple swap should make a noticeable increase in power, correct?

Some will some won't due to bolt spacing. A 101 head won't go in there, for instance.

I have a couple of MC-10 heads that I want to put on a 1-70 (ported, of course) when I get around to it. They're smaller compression volume, but the plug is in a different place so I have to either hack the hood, or use a hood and handle from a D-44.

Are there Kart heads that fit the S44A?

Still thinking about grabbing one...

Same. I'll post the PN when I get home later...

S44A, 1-70, 1-71, 1-72 can all take that as it is the saw-block version of the MC-10. I think it will fit on a S44 and D44, too. I never took the heads off my D44 when I had them, but the extrior appeared the same. Knowing McCulloch though, the bowls could have been ANYTHING!

Nice spark plug/air shroud/hood/bonnet you got there minosi. Same goes for the SP and the PM1000...

While we're all thinking about 82cc Macs, anyone pay any attention to what they went for over the peak Mac selling season this year, on fleabay? Just curious.

I don't want to look like more of an idiot than I am, but...

Where on the bottom? I'm not seeing it.

sorry for getting back late but some work had to be done. like where herose circled wipe the oil off and the rest of the number will show. i can make out a 50 so like every one else answered and by what mine looks like it's prob an1-50.

Dang man did they let you out on a day pass? You should probably stay out of those political threads, I do not want to go to camp so I stay far away, the FB is where I unleash my furry.
