That`s a fast saw Ola, are you coming to Dan`s? LOL.

Those 346s sure do modify well. They are a pleasure to use.

No, I think you call it green poplar (is that the same as aspen?)
It's a 10" I think... I used it ´cos that's what Gypo used in his clips from the thread "Fastest 346 known to man".
So, obviously it's quite soft I suppose, but as soon as I've filed the chain square I'll prove it in oak or something harder.

I couldnt get anything but a page cannot be displayed message when I tried to watch the clip.

Did you try right-clicking the file "mmw346xp.avi" and "save target as"? Then play the file from your computor...

Magnus told me to use 3/8 - 8 tooth to get the most out of it. In the meantime I'll add some more clips tomorrow in which I've polished the times as well as modded the muffler some more.

Wow, that really sound agressive for a 45cc saw. are you going to do some runs with a 7 tooth too?

Well, there are some new clips; One with my slightly modded 385XP and a couple of more with the mmw346xp...

I've just received the files and ATOP filing guide. Will test it today, but clips will have to wait since I don't have the camera here...
Will be back with an evaluation after easter...

Well, I've made my first cuts with the ATOP system after sharpening the semi-chisel .325 chain. And I'm loving it. My first impression was that it cuts like if the rakers have been filed too much - but without the grabby, bouncy feeling. The cut just went through the log - fast. The second thing I discovered was that much less pressure was needed to get the cut smooth and fast, the tooth seem to work its way into the wood more by itself than the standard chain - and with those plate angles I kind of suspected that... I tried some boring as well to see whether it would throw the saw in my face - but again, those "agressive" angles really cuts through the fibres making the boring cuts "boring" - I felt no tendency to kick back at all. Overall I'd say that what Goran promised - he delivered. I'm just curious why those of you who have "been there", "done that" abandoned this kind of filing if you've really succeded in filing with this kind of file that is.
If I find square filed 3/8 much faster than ATOP .325, I'll probably go for it. But I doubt it after todays testing. The wider kerf made by the 3/8 probably generate too much friction to be a winner for those small saws. Now, for the record, I just want to point out that I have NO connection to ATOP more than that I've just bought the file guide and talked to Goran on the phone. I'll continue my testing after easter and come back with photos of the ATOP system and what I've achieved with it.

Qatanlison, Could you post a picture of what the ATOP sytem looks like and what the cutter looks like after it has been sharpened.
Also buy semi chisel chain do you mean Oregon LG style, pointed working corner or stihl rm type, rounded working corner? in the states round corner chain is often called semi-chisel and square corner is called full chisel. Not to be confused with Square grinding BTW.

I'll sure post some pics, but they'll have to wait a week I'm off on a easter holiday... By semi-chisel I mean a rounded corner profile of the side plate looking into the cutter from the front.

Qatan- I've tried Goran's method of filing in the past. It just doesn't stay sharp long enough in the woods for a professional timber faller. I'm talking guys who run saws 6-7 hours a day 6 days a week. I fall and buck 100 trees/day on average and the best system is good old square grinding/filing. I still only get one shift out of a chain. Sometimes not even that.
