Why are they closing threads just when going is good. Let people speak and argue if they want. No one is going to get hurt or do something stupid, let the people speak. The topics might wonder some but it usually gets reeled back in.

Most all threads are closed due to trolling or a subject being beat to death.

With the last thread I think it was getting a little too heated and TreeCo didt want to ban someone because they got too excited.

I could be way off but thats my guess.

It depends on the fourm. Some fourms let you say anything and heated threads go on forever. This fourm is different and I kind of like it.

Sometimes it can be a tough call. There are rules of the forum. As those rules are consistently enforced, it certainly helps with keeping a certain standard.

I have always thought if someone didn't like where they were or how things were ran, they could always go elsewhere or start their own site/business/friendship(s), etc...

I think there is a quite a bit of autonomy allowed, but I also appreciate there are those who are able, and do, draw the line.

I think it can be fun to read/follow a thread when it's harmless banter. When things heat up, I'd rather burn my time on a 441 vs. 440 vs. 372 vs. 2171 or
026/260 vs. 346 vs. 5100, or Echo vs. Stihl. vs. Poulon vs. Craftsman vs. Husky vs. Dolmar vs. J-red vs. Efco vs. whatever.

BTW...

GO ECHO!!!

Another By the way...

Sometimes people do say stuff that is way, way, way beyond appropriate.
It can and does happen.

Sure this is an internet site, but words can still have quite a sting to them.

As someone who has been hooked by trolls a few times, I appreciate the closing of threads. It sure helps guys like me from making a bigger jerk of themselves than they already have!

Sometimes, things get pretty out of hand. Not many people would really say that kind of stuff to other people in person. Too much power in being anonymous on the internet.

I don't envy treeco or any of the moderators in the least.

Text lacks the subtle tones and nuances that are conveyed by voice. tempers flair, heated words exchanged and the productivity of the thread drops. I wouldn't want to be in their position of cleaning up the threads or banning members.

The rules were in place when I joined. If I choose to stay I must abide by the rulesas they apply to all member not just all the other members.

When I have my own internet forum I can make my own rules. Then chaos will prevail and the quality will drop low enough that I will not want to be there.

Kudo's to the Moderators for keeping this blood thirsty mongrel at bay.

uhh, you might oughta read the announcement up top guys. I happen to agree with it.

We are guests here and there are rules to the house. The allowed content of this forum is very well described.

Why would you question or be surprised when the moderators do what the rules say they will do when rules are not followed? I don't understand?:buttkick:

Rats! I forgot all about that sticky.:jawdrop:

Hopefully, we don't all go to Banned Camp!

+1! This site is actually more tolerant than many others on the internet. Just look at some of the posts on the Political Views forum downstairs. Another option is just to move the thread to the Off Topic basement and let it join the lizards, snakes, and trolls. Not sure which option is better--termination or casting into the dungeon. :dizzy:

you just call me blood thirsty?

No, I included only myself in that statement. My apologies for not being clearer. The mongrel being me. Look at the avatar, something is really wrong with this guy that goes way beyond bad spelling.

There was once an insinuation that I was ( I forget exactly) a hungry wolf orrrrrrr PITBULL ! that was it ! That I shouldn't be allowed near the wemin folk under any circumstances. It was taken the same way I hope it was meant, that it was in good fun.

We have tough days, I have mine and try not to bring them here. My kids follow some of the posts here too. I am glad that amongst a large group of men from so many different walks of life that we are able to keep the smut off the board and flamewars don't prevail here.

this was too. lol. i dont mind being called a mongrel.

be well.

Now THAT"S what I'm talking about !!!! you had me going.

Not knowing you well enough to pick up on the subtle overtones from written text to know the true nature of the post.

I'm here because it is fun, I like working in the woods, breaking a sweat and the feeling I get from heating with wood. I am here to offer some ideas , add my opinions and maybe ask a question or 2 when something comes up for me that I need a different perspective than my own on.

If I need an arguement I'll call my ex, she is usually pretty quick to comply with that.

+2.... AS is one of the most tolerant site that I'm aware of. certainly the most tolerant of the few sites that I visit.

as much mud is slung around... it's a wonder more threads are not shut down.... more folks banned...

Treeco has done an excellent job!
keeps an eye on things, but in no way is overbearing.

this is the only forum that I've seen moderators catch crap without getting someone banned.
