Everytime you see a thread with a title like this one has, you can almost bet on it ending up ugly.

BTW, where's the OP

Sure this is an internet site, but words can still have quite a sting to them.

As someone who has been hooked by trolls a few times, I appreciate the closing of threads. It sure helps guys like me from making a bigger jerk of themselves than they already have!

Sometimes, things get pretty out of hand. Not many people would really say that kind of stuff to other people in person. Too much power in being anonymous on the internet.

if it were a perfect world, we wouldn't need civil laws.

likewise, even on the internet in forums, civility must be maintained. i have to say, this forum is extremely liberal when it comes to arguing, and if you get banned from here for making absurd statements, you asked for it. AS maintains it is a family oriented forum, and as such, tries to hold itself to higher standards than many other forums. kids, wives and many guests stop by and read here..it isn't just the guys.

some people can't dispute any issues without getting hyper, or they can't just make their point and move on. i have yet to see in any forum where, after hours of arguing, one walks away thanking the other for educating them.

forums are privately owned and the owners have every right to ban any one they wish for any reason they deem reasonable. as members, we have one of two choices: abide by the rules and act civil, or simply find another forum.

LOL! He probrably went downstairs to read the Sarah Palin thread on the Political Views forum. If he reads it all, you may here from him again after all the debates are over.

Ha,ha yep, I have too force myself too stay clear of the Political forum although time and again I find myself there. My gal walks by and say of you must be in Political forum cause you're typing a mile a minute and mumbling too yourself. Most of the guys and gals are good people with valid opinions and are able too back up their positions. There's always a couple that never add an original thought. They either jump on someone elses bandwagon or insult people by calling them names or making assumptions. Those are the ones you see getting banned for the most part. I've found the site too be very tolerant. You always get people who push the envelope though.

Here is a link to the thread that I believe this thread is talking about. If you read it you will see it has little to do with heating with wood.....but is more about having an ax to grind with arborist.

Seemed more like a professional arborist or two having an axe to grind with any Joe owning a rope and chainsaw. :hmm3grin2orange:

The thread started stated in his opening post that he had trouble with the same subject in another forum so he re-posted it. The thread starter was not banned or even contacted about his thread being locked. Nor did the thread starter complain. His intentions for starting the thread are pretty clear.

I locked the thread because it had turned into bashing arborist and arborist bashing back. It was pretty obvious it was just going to get worse and it's educational value had dropped to below zero.

i got a feeling it's gonna start again..................................
