would you increase or decrease the amount of fuel on the high side when using the saw and pushing harder?

I have a 357xp and I don't know where to try and get for RPM's for the greatest amount of torque. I am pretty good with my ear but now that I have a walkers muffler on the saw the saw makes my ears ring. Anyways the saw is set at about 13800 rpms and it seems to drop into the high 9000's or low 10,000's this is with letting the saw fall and of course I can stop it if pushed real hard.

Please don't respond with depends on chain depth etc etc, I'm not concerned with cut times only the best RPM for the greatest amount of torque.

Thanks for any help.

Doug

You may not be asking for what you really want. Max horsepower should give you the fastest cutting; it will occur at a leaner fuel setting. Max torque will be at a lower rpm and a richer fuel setting. That is where you can push the hardest on it. Also where you are losing more horsepower pressing the chain against the bar! If you like to run lower rakers, you likely will want to tune for torque. Some people like a different feel and tune leaner and dont push. S'up to you.

Thanks Crofter, push harder more torque=richer settings, let the saw fall more horsepower higher RPM=leaner settings.

That was the question, anyone know what RPM yields the highest torque for a 357xp?
