Hey everyone, I have been siting back and reading all the great info on this site. I have run stihls for about 15 years now and love them. I had a ms310 that i muffler ported per what i have read, it turned out great!! But i sold it too a friend so i could get the new saw, ms440. My first question is i got this new new saw for a side job that feel into lap. A girl i work with has 6 red oaks that she waits down and will give me all the wood, How long should i wait before muffler modding the new one, as of today it has just one tank of gas through it.
I do have a tach, but but i have read not to rull WOT for the first 3 to 5 tanks. It came with a 20" bar but i have 25" gb ti bar coming soon. I have two loops of stihl rsc in 20" and two loops 25" rsf for the gb bar. I also have two 20" loops of rm and will get two loops of 25'' of rmf.
Trees range from 20'' to 39'' thats way i have full Skip for the 25'' bar. I know a 440 my be pushing a 39+ tree but until this job is done i can not afford a 660.
I have all summer to do it, so my plan was to start small, fell, limb, buck and split the small ones first. I have a ms025 for small work and limbing.
I hope to post pics and vids of the hole job.
Any input would helpfully.
