^^^^^I agree. The differences among those 3 saws is pretty small. They are all competitive among each other.

260's are a little dated but it's not necessarily a bad thing. That means they're time tested and one of Stihl's all time best designs. Parts are easy to find (used, aftermarket, and dealer).

None of those saws come standard with very efficient chains in the US, due to the ANSI anti-kickback rules regarding saws below 61cc or so.........:monkey:

Nope, depends on the dealer and if he knows you.

What's supposed to be in the box usually won't make it to the saw. The ANSI reg is not law, just a recommended safety standard for the lawyers either get in front of or behind.

I am not afraid of a big saw at all, I am afraid of what I will try do do with one. If I have a saw that can power a big bar, I WILL get a big bar and I WILL try to take down that huge tree. So it is more for my own saftey.

You got a big saw if you have a 460. We run a 460 with a 32 everyday and thats are big saw, no need for anymore power than that simply because the average person will seldom use it. My advice from experience is 026 yes, 346 is an excellent choice but personally I wouldnt't give a squirt of pi$$ for a 5100. We tore two of them up in less than a summer, the 7900 is apparently a durable saw but i'll never give it a chance to prove it. When you stop in and see a 5100 at $399 and a 260 at $500 you should definetely ask yourself where the $100 is shaved off. Thats just me though, a lot of guys on here have had good luck with them, just not me.

Yep, it is ultimately up to the dealer......:greenchainsaw:

I am actually looking at a 346, on paper it looks like it has more power than the 260.

I am assuming that the husky being a newer model does a little better on gas than the 260?

From what I have seen around here.
5100- 395.00
2153- 489.00
260pro-500.00

The 2153 or 346 are smooth running saws.
The 5100 really cuts, I'd rate it even with the 2153 and 346.
the 260 is a nice saw and reliable just a step under the rest in performance in my opinion.
I thought the 5100 was the best value:chainsaw:
