Ms280 Clutch change

If the chain is still spinning at a high speed after you let go of the throttle, you have a lean condition. Either you need the carburetor adjusted or you have a leak somewhere. Get this fixed now, before you cut again or you will have a dead saw very soon.

Time to spend $25 on a service manual. Never heard anybody that bought one complain it was a waste of money. You wont regret it.

Or you could get the Mediacat disc and have it, and all of Stihl's ipls for free.

If the chain stopped spinning after the throttle is released after I cleaned out the drum, why would that point to a lean condition?

I read through the post and missed where you said it had stopped turning. I have pulled some pretty dirty saws apart here in the last three months and even though I had to use some tools to get the clutch drum off, it never turned the chain. That is why I was suggesting a lean condition. So I learned something else to look at today!
