I've tried all the usual tricks including starting fluid. Compression is strong. Spark is strong with spark tester, medium strong on the tiny bosch plug.

Would check to see if choke is fully closing but not obvious how to remove that black plastic in front of carb intake. Yes filter is off.

Suggestions appreciated?

Besides Bosch R10, what other plug are you using

It's a good video
It looks as if the black plastic outer piece comes off just by removing linkage, and prying up on two pivot points. However going back on it shows securing the two carb machine nuts.

Either way, once i get the black plastic off, I'll be able to tell if the choke is fully closimg. And go from there. Tks.

Tilt the cover toward the switch side and be careful with the wiring. Maybe take a photo of the kill switch arrangement in case it comes loose.

Success.
I put in another new plug. Pull 4 times with choke, nothing. Move to run position, pull 20 times, nothing. 21st pull smoke at exhaust. 22nd pull she started, and runs smoothly.

Will wait a few hours and see if it starts.

What color is the plug, is it tan or black, might be fouled.

It's all good. Now starting 2nd pull. All I can tell you after working on 2 strokes for 50 years is it must have been a sneaky Bosch R10 plug. It tested well outside the motor but wouldn't start it. A new Ngk CMR6h did it. Previously I have used Champion R27c successfully.
