There is so much opinion from armchair 441 operators it is down right funny.

As you're unbiased (some will dispute that because you own one!), tell us all what you think of it.

I say I am "unbiased" because of all the other brands of saws that I own ( more than 2 dozen ) only several are Stihls.

and price... amongst other things. Why did you chose the 441 over 440 or 460?

The reason I bought the 441 was because of Thall's thread. If I want to try a saw and think it is a good investment I buy it! IMO 2 cuts in an 8 or 10 inch log behind the dealership isn't enough for me. Someone has to buy these new saws and give feedback on it!

I have owned several 044's, I see the 441 as an "improvement". Personally I don't give a rat's azz about a little more weight. I can't tell anyway.

How do I like it??? So far alot!!! Considering that the saw is nowhere broke in first impressions are good!

Yes. Yes. Yes. Rich.

You have grasped the concept that appears to be beyond the comprehension of Lake and Thall.

My whole argument has been about horsepower to weight ratio from my very first post on the 441.

The 441 has a poorer horsepower to weight ration than the 036, 044 and the 046.

Groan.... Yes Treeco... that was your "one-liner" argument... Everyone else (o.k., a few didn't) moved on about 1300 posts ago in the other thread... Personally, I think you've sold more saws by continuing the thread(s) than anyone!

Dan, I see your point and respect your opinion but info on paper doesn't seem to tell the whole story.

Remember that my 441 is "muffler modded". When I went to run the saw for the first time I was a lttle sceptical but when I hit the wood that all changed.

What can I say I took a chance and it paid off. I like the saw!

You may not. That is OK.

Just like women we all have different tastes and perspectives!

Rich do you know that your muffler mod is not accepted by Stihl and that it also means your saw is putting out more emissions?

You are defeating the engineering Stihl has put into the 441 to meet EPA requirements.

Like most are not going to mod the mufflers.

Dan are you really that concerned about emissions??? I think you would mod the muffler too! Take a look around.......muffler mods have always been a HOT topic around here!

My choice.........:dizzy:

I agree with you Rich.

And others, including Thall, likely will have a saw that does not perform as well as the one you are so happy with.

You are happy with a modded 441 and why wouldn't you be.

This thread is not about a modded 441 and neither was the prince thread.

Why wouldn't Thall and others not like the 441's performance as much as me???

Last I saw As membership didn't include a crystal ball!!!

OK then............just don't buy the saw!!!

What more can be said!!!

Granted this thread is not about modded 441's. But there is more to the 441 than just the weight..........ahhhhh how we soon forget!!!

Hey, Let's expand the subject scope - 440 <>441

Stock verse stock
Modded verses modded...

or whatever....

Get real Treeco... Barely a thread goes by without someone modding something. And when did a thread stay precisely on topic anyhow???? Don't you have some plants to water?

I will not buy the saw!

I will stick with the lighter and more powerfull MS460.

Good for you!!!

Can I still participate on this thread???

Dan............you didn't lock the outhouse door on me did you???

I have sandpaper in hand and am waitin' to squat!!!:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

You do that. We're all happy for you. You can stay with the more powerfull, older techonlogy, more expensive , gas gussling (well, not really) and same weight 460. Did I cover it all? A sale for Stihl is a sale for Stihl. Stihl really doesn't care what you buy so long as it isn't another brand.:hmm3grin2orange:

 I still like my 441:cheers:
Andy, thanks for not trying to sell me a saw and for helping others with tech questions when asked.[/SIZE]

I this post sounds like the same post going on and on and on and

We're just rats in the treadmill wheel!

Maybe the next thread on this will be different? Ha! fat chance.

Given that Stihl has about 5 base models and dozens of variants to release (entire product line) over the next two years, and I assume so will Husky, Dolmar etc etc as they cram up against 2009 EPA.. AS will be an interesting place... or not...

I'm more interested in the results after the muffler mod. on the441

I second that comment manual. There still is no meaningful information, at least that I have seen on this site, that speaks of the saws performance after a muffler mod. I am in the market for a saw in the 441 size class but I am not willing to pull the trigger until I see some useful comparison data. (other than stock weight and horsepower)

Unfortunately I modded the muffler before I cut with the saw stock!
