I do believe Lake mentioned earlier that a modded muffler may reduce performance. You are likely pulling some of your fuel mix out your modded muffler along with that breath of fresh air that second carb input supplies.

So dude.........your muffler modded 441 may not be all it can be!

It seems that the negative post that keep repeating that the 441 is too heavy and that Stihl made a mistake are completely forgetting that the 441 is an E-Tec design. Not having to fuel as often is well worth the weight.

What are small hand-held engines, 25 - 30 years behind EPA Automobile engines?

Ok this fuel thing is bugging me I can cut one full cord or one face cord with my saw now.
What gains am I going to get with this fuel pinching saw I keep hearing about? also is the bar oil tank larger to compensate for the fuel savings?

Don't go to big when you do a muffler mod. like 75 to 85% of the opening that we are used to doing now.

As for sales I get paid exactly the same whether I sell a 441, 460, 440 or any other model. I will admit I'm a helluva good salesman Tree, I've put around 2-3 thousand units out there in the past few years so yeah in a way your correct, I'm a selling mother. Tree you hop in your truck and come on up here, I'll show you how its really done and yes you will go home smiling..

This is a capable saw and there are many more firewood guys here than Arborists like you or Fellers like me. I am not employed as a lumberjack, but the inlaws have a logging operation and I am happy to be lumped in with them.

Wood milage,lolololol, that was funny. Reminds me of this guy who bought a saw from me once, don't even recall the model now. He comes back snorting the dayummm thing burns so much fuel. I asked him how does it run, he says great. I ask him is if cuts good, he says cuts great. I said well ok then how many miles to the gallon is it getting. He gets all tissy and says very funny. I say yup was wasn't it,lol,. Haven't seen him around in a long time.....
